I have added an area where one will be able to find files available for download.

I have not opened it yet for general usage .. still testing.


The tab labeled DOWNLOADS in the navbar will take you there.

No files are in there yet as I am still working the system, but later today I will place a single 3 MB pdf in there and I ask all of you to download it. I am using this as a server stress test mostly.

If you feel uncomfortable downloading an unknown file then don't do it ... its that simple.


This feature can come in handy as a file sharing platform ... although I need to test it fully to see what size files will be optimal.

I'm guessing it'll be limited to small files?

Wouldn't want movies shared. Be a heavy load on the server, I'd imagine.

I have a fairly robust server and the size of the FILE is not as important as the amount of times it is downloaded PLUS the amount of simultaneous downloads.

A 1MB file downloaded by 100 folks all at 0900 hrs will stress the server to near limits faster than a single 100MB file... etc etc ...

I'm just getting a feel for the thing at first and I'll be able to decide on quota later. It may be that for large files I'd have to allow access on a schedule of up and downloads.

Same here...it was done downloading before the little status bar on my browser could even show up.

Took longer for FF to scan it for viruses than it took d/l it.

I have to tweak the php on the server side to allow large file uploads.

I play around with it a few more days before allowing random dudes to upload.

Youtube spends MILLIONS on server fees .. .MONTHLY.

I'm am, unfortunately, unable to match that.

As it is I'm stuck with a low level single disc server ... and have just determined through testing that 30MB is gonna be the max file size for uploads due to PHP and server restrictions.

Seems like this may not get much use since folks can simply link to a large file on a more robust server.

Still, I'm gonna keep it open, I have access to a whole host of military publications that you guys might find useful. I'll post some soon.

Simply for feedback: the Army magazine took somewhat longer for me to download....a whole whopping 9 seconds according to Firefox.

Can we upload yet? I've a manual, the FM 21-76 U.S. Army Survival manual (abbridged), if you like. You may have it already, or a better more updated. Also, I'm not sure of any legalities that might arise from posting such a manual, let me know!

I have not tested user uploads yet.

And really have not thought much about how I'm going to use this section.
