Quitting
Ever get fed-up of the life you're living? Daily grind?.... same thing day in day out. Do you ever think about leaving everything behind and just doing whatever you want?
Well, l decided a while ago to do exactly that. Thats the reason that l have not been here much. l've sold everything l owned, the most difficult being my house ... especially in the current climate. lt got somewhat stressful to say the least but now everything is done.
So, l'm just going to relax for a week or so ... maybe more if l so desire and then decide what l want to do first. Maybe l'll travel for a while and then l fancy running a beach bar for a season. l care not about making a fortune ... hell, even if it loses l don't care ... l just fancy doing it.
lt does feel really good having no deadlines to meet, no bills to worry about etc etc ... the sense of freedom is overwhelming.
l never actually realised how much freedom l'd lost till l got it back!

Re: Quitting
Enjoy it while it lasts. Freedom doesn't come for free and soon enough living expenses will creep their way back into your life!
Running a beach bar does sound fun, though!

I would love to be able to do that. Maybe some day I will have the opportunity.
Good on ya for seizing your dreams.

Re: Quitting
Indeed.
Years ago I made detailed plans for my retirement.
I dreamed and planned for financial independence to the point of not having to work for anyone that I did not choose to work for. I have a desire to work because being idle is not in my best interest, but I no longer desire working FOR anyone else ... now I work for ME and because I want to.
I have plans in motion now that will secure my total financial future from age 50 and onward.
I will have my Helicopter pilot license with-in the next 24 months and I plan on making a purchase of a small 4 place craft that will be used both for recreation and as an income.
So MY version of leaving everything behind might sound like work to most, but to me it sounds like freedom because it's all based on MY desires, not others.

Re: Quitting
Wow, talk about comparing apples to oranges.
You get called a traitor when you post ridiculous rants about anti-american garbage... I doubt anyone here knows what you do for income or your financial plans, so how can you possibly think that somehow is why you've got the reputation that you have?
I doubt anyone would call you a traitor if you were a normal dude who just bailed on "real life" to go chase Geisha's... but that's not what you are in the least...

Re: Quitting
Severina, congratulations on following your dreams. You are very courageous and I wish you well.
I have often just wanted to walk out (run away) and go to a peaceful island somewhere and live in a basic community without any modern day hassles.
I think I was born 100's years too late. Ideally my period of time would be around The Black Plague and Fire of London times of the 1660's.

Re: Quitting
You really don't know how to express yourself well.
WTF is a "normal dude" and I don't chase Geisha's. Geishas are the 60 year old teachers for Maiko. You are thinking of Maiko.
Why does a person have to "bail" to live the way THEY choose?
You dumb fucks have been labeling me a traitor NOT because of my statements, but because I live abroad and state them.
You may now fuck off.
The correlation is simple. I have been doing what I want, living abroad in a foreign country, that has nothing to do with being labeled a traitor.
You fucks choose your cheap way of insulting because your cheap fucks.
You DON'T call me a traitor for what I say, you call me that because of my location, so don't give me any bullshit.
Anybody located Stateside and doing the same, usually gets some discussion going on it, is labeled 'misguided' or worse, but not a traitor.
Face it, your cheap chumps like Lovetoeatkittylitter.
You insult on his level, because you have the chance, as stupid as it is.
It's called "slipping one in while you can" crap.
I have challenged everyone on everyboard and not one person can come up with a VALID point or reason for using the word "traitor".
You're all cheap and weak.

Re: Quitting
Traitor is a strong word and has a clearly defined meaning for me.
You do not qualify as a traitor, you qualify as a deluded left wing conspiracy nut that embraces socialistic view points and hails the Government of the United States of America as evil ... nope not a traitor at all.
Carry on.

Re: Quitting
I'll agree to the underlined portion, but not entirely.
Conspricy nut I am not. Left winger I am.
I don't think the gov is evil, I think it is just plain wrong.
Getting back on topic:
I don't understand why people don't live they way they want to in the first place.
We still have to live under some rules and regulations, gravitational laws and so forth, but making your dreams come true starts with dreaming first, then SOON living them.
How hard can that be?
If you live a secure comfortable life, then I can see it being difficult to reach out. Security can lead to laziness.
Change in another factor. For some, change means fear.
Now, I embrace Change. It's the way of life.

Re: Quitting
Congratulations! :) I know a woman who did the same thing and lived in a tent up in the mountains for two years by herself. She would go into town for groceries, etc. and check out books at the local library and spent most of that time reading. She said it was the best experience she's ever had.
Hehe, there were two teenage kids who drove up to try to steal some of her stuff one time and she ran them off by shooting at them and leaving several souvenir holes in their truck. Yeah, she's a little crazy...
Hmm... Green Zone. I only mention this because you bitched the loudest about thread hijacking when you were the "victim". [capping convo now]

Re: Quitting
You're quite constant with this sort of thing. I will slap you on the ass (not so hard to miss btw) with this when you do the same...................... and you will.
Perhaps you missed the post before yours?
"Getting back on topic:
........................................................"
As I mentioned in the post before yours, quitting for some people is a matter of overcoming their fears of change.
There is always a bit of apprehension about the future.
Knowing that you will always be taken care of in some way will give some assurance.

For the first time in my life, I'm feel like I'm stuck in one of those daily grinds. Honestly, it makes me want to fight everyone I see, shoot up heroin, and abuse my woman.
But I keeps it real.Your friend,

Decided to tour UK a little bit first. l'd sold my Mercedes SLK so needed another car. As it happens a friend of mine works for a media company and they were renewing their fleet. What did l get? .... a 2002 Mercedes S Class Automatic 4 dr with full Mercedes service history!
lt's out of this world, leather interior, electric everything inc seats front and rear, fixed phones front and rear, CD, Cassette? ;-), DVD, TV, MP3, Sat Nav, Voice activated controls, Climate Control front and rear, rear seat tables and vanity mirrors, electric blinds in rear and l still haven't found everything yet!
On mechanical side you can raise the height of the car if going down country tracks by the press of a button, change the suspension to 2 types of sport suspension by press of another button which can further enhance the traction control and electronic stability control.
lt has so much power it is untrue. They say l'll get around 26 mpg but l can live with that.
Did l spend a fortune on it? ... No, l paid only about half of what l got for my SLK. l paid £5,850 for it ... which l still can't believe as it was £55,000 new without all the accessories!
Life is good! ... although the tree huggers and other greenies won't think so! Ah well, l can live with that too. Happy days!
