Head Lice
Jess has nits.
For the second time. The first time was HORRIBLE, as a general rule she hates her hair being brushed. She screams, and fights me all the way even if there aren't any knots in her hair. It's one of her only real sensitivities.
Her hair is much longer now than it was the first time.
How do I get the eggs out without having her wriggle and scream, her hair is too fine for a nit comb, I tried that tonight and it wouldn't pick them out. :(
I brush her hair everyday! I can't believe I missed them :( She doesn't have any live ones as far as I can see, only eggs so far. There will be a mother nit in her hair but I haven't found it yet.
Blah! Some help please, keeping in mind for those who don't know, she is Autistic, this will be difficult. No stupid, outrageous suggestions.
Thanks.

Re: Head Lice :(
A couple of days ago, two Croatian girls had head lice and their grandmother treated them with insecticide. The older sister, aged 10, died. The grandmother attempted suicide a couple of times.
Think she faked it.
She said that she took the wrong bottle. So by accident she took insecticide, while her grandkids had insects in their hair? That was no accident, the old hag is just retarded.
Have no idea what to do with your kid, sorry but I have no experience with lice. Insects generally avoid me.

Re: Head Lice :(
I thought Niamh had nits last week, but she didn't.
It was toast.
*little to no help, but might have produced a giggle*

Re: Head Lice :(
A few years back, every single one of my aunts children had head lice. Four damn kids. She tried Nix, nothing. It would appear better for like a few days, and they would be itchy again. When you nix your children's hair, you also have to really wash their pillows, clothes, blankets, etc.. or else they will get it again. The reason my aunts children always got it was because of her older daughter. Her hair was too thick and curly.. the nix wasn't working. She had to chop her hair off. That was the only way.
Hope you get rid of those nasty little critters!

Re: Head Lice :(
When my eldest daughter was young she fought whenever I brushed her hair. I finally used a spray can of "No Tangles" with limited success.
For nits I used tea oil on her. This produced the best results.
Here is a link...you could find other links easily if you Google it.
Good luck. xxx

Re: Head Lice :(
Bunnee, do you have a tumble dryer in your home? When you treat Jess, you should put the pillows from her bed in there on top heat.

Re: Head Lice :(
I've never had to deal with lice sorry.
But would it not be possible to try and clean her hair while she is asleep to prevent any wriggling? Or would she just wake up?

Re: Head Lice :(
Thanks for all the help.
I did Jess' hair in small increments yesterday. I looked at the website Pink gave me, it's helpful, but I already knew all those things.
I don't have a dryer Stella- My man won't let me have one, and since I'm moving we can't justify the cost of getting one anyway. But I do have one waiting for me in Sydney, so haha to my boyfriend :P
I still have to have a quick peek to make sure I got them all, but I think I did. I've decided she needs a haircut too. Although I love how beautiful her hair is long, it's just not practical. So on Friday I'm gonna chop it all off in a nice layered style :) It will be her first REAL hair cut.
Wish me luck!

Re: Head Lice :(
No, not untill tomorrow!
Although I might put it off, Abby may have whooping cough :( I'd rather not drag Abby to the hairdresser for no reason.

Re: Head Lice :(
For Christs' sake keep your kids clean and immunized before you kill them.
One sure fire way to rid them is to use pet shampoo. . .flea, tick and lice treatment. You can get a powder to put in the sheets too that should get them out of the bedding.
