Movie recommendations
Have you seen any movies lately that you would recommend to anyone?
I just watched Vantage Point.
Pretty damned good movie. New style of telling a story.
From....ehhh...different Vantage Points.
I also watched 28 weeks later.
That sequel, believe it or not, was better than the original.

Re: Movie recommendations
The last one I have seen was "I am Legend"...
I liked it... I thought Will Smith was very convincing as the last man on earth (that's what he thought).

Re: Movie recommendations
I agree with you about 28 Weeks Later. I actually thought it was a great movie. The ending shocked me though.. ****spoiler alert***** I thought the little boy had the mothers blood where he would be immune to the disease too.
I dont have any movies to recommend. Im kind of saddened by the fact that lots of new movies are sucking lately. Silent hill 2 sucked ass. I was bored watching it. Even Resident Evil: Ectinction sucked. Too fucking short.

Re: Movie recommendations
It was a "knock off "of the book I am legend written in 1954 by richard matheson, you silly goose.
I liked the book better, its far more depressingly funny.
As for movies that i would recommended...
The prestige
Grindhouse
Tetsuo - The Ironman
Shoot em up
Gin gwai aka The eye (the original, not that jessica alba bullshit.)

Re: Movie recommendations
I've been watching older movies lately as well.
In no particular order:
Adaptation
Sideways
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
V for Vendetta
A Clockwork Orange
Children of Men
Howl's Moving Castle
Ichi the Killer
Natural Born Killers
No Country for Old Men
Pan's Labyrinth
Running with Scissors (the book is also excellent)
White Oleander (the book is also excellent)
The Dark Crystal
The Labyrinth
The Departed
A History of Violence
I'm sure I'll think of more.

Re: Movie recommendations
You score major points with me! Hayao Miyazaki's stuff rocks, as does Jim Henson's Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, of course.
If I could recommend one movie that most people haven't seen, it would HAVE to be Harold and Maude. Awesome flick.
Some other stuff I like that I haven't seen listed: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Heathers, 12 Monkeys, and Memento. I loved Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer as well. That's just off the top of my head. I'll try to think of more later.

Re: Movie recommendations
I am not sure, but I think the thread was in reference to RECENT movies, though stating the oldies but goodies does stir up conversation.
Miyazaki is classic as is director Akira Kurosawa.
Recent films:
10,000 B.C.
I had no idea they spoke English that far back in time.
I thought the ideas of the pyramids was interesting which
had an Atlantean feel to it. Plausible.
Not bad, but not great. Nice computer graphics.
Try to keep in mind that the Hero is part of the prophecy.
That's why he can befriend a Saber Tooth Tiger.

Re: Movie recommendations
Are you getting nitpicky with ME? Cut it out! The initial post said 'seen any movies lately', not 'seen recent movies.'

Hehehe.. Truth be told, I've watched a lot of recently-made movies. I'm just not all that impressed with anything made lately. Pity, too.
I haven't seen 10,000 B.C., but I'd like to. You can bet your butt I won't go to a theater to see it, though.

Re: Movie recommendations
The only recent movie I've seen that was any good is Eastern Promises.
The new Resident Evil movie was a bit of a disappointment. It ended just as the action was beginning to pick up. It seemed more like a vehicle to lay the groundwork for the upcoming sequel than anything else. The first two were better.
30 Days Of Night sucked too. It never really got off the ground and the action was inconsistent.
