Re: American Energy plan
Few parts are worth mentioning:
A. We don't "send our soldiers to our enemies". We have no enemies except for the ones we fabricated.
I hardly think Iraqi civilians and children constitute enemies.
B. "They owe us". Iraq owes us NOTHING. No oil. No money. That was a stupid thing he said. We invaded their country. Enough said.
C. His #3 does not mention who needs to repay "their debts" and what debts.
D. His #4 is vague. Who is our enemy that we are buying oil from? Saudi Arabia? Angola? Venezuela? Why would the U.S. purchase oil from enemy states?
E. Japan and Germany were not rebuilt by oil but by their own efforts and American protectionism.
F. "Create new alternative energy industries" was the best thing he said so far.
G. "Diminish the enemies to Democracy". ????? Who are the enemies to Democracy? Cuba? Nonsense.
Too much Americana jive talk.

Re: American Energy plan
A. yeah right.. nobody hates the U.S.... that's all a figment of our imagination
b. this is a semi-valid point... they don't owe us anything, unless you consider the fact that we removed their vicious genocidal dictator.
c. He was talking about Iraq repaying us for our war costs via a discount on the price of oil. He made that very clear. I disagree with him on this point, however. As you said, we invaded them, and even though they got rid of a vicious dictator, they don't have any obligation to repay our expenditures.
d. Pretty much everyone we buy oil from is our enemy. Maybe not in the sense that we've declared war against them, but the vast majority of them harbor serious anti-american sentiment. It does make good sense to buy oil from a country who's government supports us, rather than a government who's own minister of religion is on numerous terror watch lists (saudi arabia).
e. I don't recall his comments about Japan and Germany, but there are parallels there... Japan and Germany were rebuilt largely by contributions from their former enemy. He's simply suggesting the same should apply here... We're helping rebuild iraq, in turn, they should help us with oil relief.
f. Absolutely, that is the best part of his plan.. the idea of using american oil to bankroll alternative energy development.
g.There are lots of enemies to democracy, including our own government. I'm not sure that's what he was getting at, but he was clearly indicting our two party system and the pathetic special interests it serves.

"Those who make big oil money will resist. But you do NOT represent them! Your job is to represent all the people of America."
I love that line. Brilliant video.

Re: American Energy plan
a. Most so called 'enemies' of the state are a fabrication of the political kind.
If we have enemies, we made them from fucking up their countries in the first place.
You are a vague as he was. So, who are these 'enemies'?
b. You mean "we removed their vicious genocidal dictator" that we installed in the first place? Why are we installing dictators anyways? To insure we get things our way?
d. Who is "them". Again, vague response. As to Saudi Arabia, we sure do like licking their nuts enough to consider them friends. I have no idea where you get your ideas from about them being terrorist. You fabricating things again?
f. The only parallel with Japan and Germany is strategic. Japan provides, not rent free, with bases so we can rape their women as in Okinawa and keep a close eye on China.
Same with Germany except we get NATO real estate expansion and in those days, a close eye on Russia on the other side of the (once upon a time) wall.
