I don't actually give a shit about any of those...but I do find it interesting that modern science supports the biblical assertion that boys should be circumcised on the 11th day.

that's when their immunities are at their highest.

      spooky.

Actually, I believe it's the 8th day. Regardless, "Biblical"/Jewish circumcision is a far cry from what Americans classify as circumcision.

Even a broken ass clock is right twice a day. Lets not forget that it was healthy back then to eat nightshade, but pork that touched the ground was a no no.

Here is an interesting tidbit. Cain was acting in his faith on god when he slew his brother.

Furthermore, it has nothing to do with the immune system. It has everything to do with blood clotting. On the 8th day after birth is when the child's body begins to produce its own Vitamin K, and thus his blood is able to clot (pretty important if you're getting cut, especially on your peter).

      Re: Strange Biblical Facts

Anyway, the c/p is incorrect in at least one place

According to the Bible, Solomon had 300 wives and 700 concubines (not the other way around).

The shortest verse is "Jesus wept.", it's found in Mark 12:35.

The longest verse is Esther 8:9 --

"Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that [is], the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which [are] from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language."

Eh, fuck it... here's a c/p of some more facts:

A Bible in the University of Gottingen is written on 2,470 palm leaves.

Could it be that the noticed that fairly early on in history? I mean It's not exactly unheard of for certin religions to find a fact, and then claim its totally there's and use it as a way to make people believe. Kinda like pork touching the ground is unsanitary, so you have a greater chance to get sick. They claimed it was the pork itself. Of course medical science disproves that now, but back then it wouldn't of mattered because there wern't many sanitary conditions.

Jews weren't allowed to eat pork, period.

And sure, it's possible... but I think it's unlikely. It's likely a coincidence.

Of course, by coincidence, I mean something that obviously does correlate with something, but we're too simple to understand the correlation. Kind of like the Butterfly Effect or the Super String Theory... it's been discovered, but we'll never be able to calculate anything with those theories, because they're simply too complex.

I believe that pure chance doesn't exist... the entire universe is a well-oiled machine that works better than chance could ever give it. Does this mean God exists? No, but it means there's a lot out there that we don't know about, and even more out there that we most likely don't even have the capability of discovering with our five senses, whether we have fancy equipment or not. The best computers, microscopes, and atomic observatories in the world can't think outside the box for us. We can't even think outside the box in most cases with the little things, let alone the greater concepts.

I agree completely. There is no way to produce truely random effects to anything. Even the most complex algarthyms still produce predictable results, we just may not ever be in a place to actually perdict them. I think in reguards to such things we reached the limits of the minds a long time ago.

PORK is one of my major irritations with religion.

I'm absolutely convinced that major world religions were spawned to keep people from dying from trichinosis.

'twould've been easier just to cook it correctly, no?
