      Opinions

Why does everyone feel that it's necessary to recycle all of the old topics incessantly? What do you gain from reading another wall of text about some topic that has been beaten into the ground for years?

Do you think that you're going to change someone's mind about God? Does it just feel good to get your opinion out there? Why do we have to decide whether or not a fetus is human before we abort it? How the fuck do you even decide that? There's not a human gene that magically pops up at 3 weeks. All of this constant recycling of entirely subjective topics is driving me insane (not just here- in general).

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

People learn through communication. As you grow as a human your thoughts and beliefs change. They change because of your expierences and others expierences. There is always some loop hole in your thought, thats why you discuss shit. Sometimes you discuss it now and get one answer, and discuss it later and get a completely differnt answer. The ulatimate to all debates is that evreything is nothing, and it doesn't really matter anyways. But before you get to that you gain a firm point of understanding. You can't have faith or understanding if you never challange it. If you constantly challange it you either have a stronger faith in what you had before IE when no loop holes are exposed, or you come to an understanding, when a loop hole is exposed. The later you then adjust your beliefs accordingly.

Most everyone believes they have the right answers, especially for them, but in truth there are so many questions we have no clue about. On these subjects we want to find a divine explination. the only way to do that is to share with others and have them share with us. Through that we take what we think makes sense and ditch the rest. The thing is dumass, there are no new topics. Anything we dicuss on philosphy or beliefs, here in some shape or form has been discussed 1000 years ago. That doesn't stop people from wanting to find out what it means to them. Isn't that part of the meaning to life?

What topics are you interested in?

Maybe create a thread and see how it goes?

Kill all religious people and anti abortionists and the problem will be solved. (Hell, kill the Jews, Niggers and Australians too, while you're at it.)

Fair enough. I've just found that opinions don't really do much unless people are actually acting on them. If you have them and do nothing with them.... I don't know, it just seems worthless. I'm aware that I may seem hypocritical since I posted in the abortion thread, but it's worth mentioning that I haven't made a post like that in over a year. I had to struggle to get it out, for that matter.

It's part of a gradual crumbling away of my interest in everything, I guess, but when I hear people talk about their opinions on subjective issues that they can do nothing about, I might as well be listening to the teacher on Charlie Brown. I get nothing out of it, not because I'm close-minded, but because I'm 100% sure that I won't see or hear anything that I haven't heard before. Invariably, I'm correct.

As for learning through communication, I'll agree with you there, simply because books are a form of communication. I'm not sure that I've ever really learned many interesting things from an actual human being- maybe about topics that I researched later, but that's about it.

(I read Ender's Game by the way, but don't seem to have you saved in my contacts list. Feel free to message me- I'd like to discuss it with you)

As soon as I decide what I'm interested in, I'll get back to you on that.

i think the problem is your learning and solving faster then expierencing things. oppinions do change on things. Expierences are the big one on those. Lets say that im against gay rights, but then i find out my son is gay. its a completely new expierence. Whats making you disinterested is that your finding your stances, and yourself as you are now qucikly, but your only having limited expierences to back that up. If you want to find something new and interesting, put yourself in a no win situation. i do it all the time! then you'll have to make tough choices which may not reflect the current value system. IE the old quote is it ok to steal bread to serve a starving family? just do it in bigger area's
