Regardless of military branch, indifferent to MOS, ALL service men and women
DESERVE to be compensated for the jobs they perform.

Base pay totally fucking sucks, benefits are being whittled away year after year.

I'm fucking sick and goddamn tired of seeing my brothers and sisters in uniform
denigrated to being little more than a welfare recipient.

this isn't the first step in this line of thinking: they basically regarded our youth as disposable when they cut Pell Grant funding (the grants that allow poor kids to go to community colleges free of charge in most cases) to fund an increase in military spending...

now they're ensuring the poverty of our enlisted kids (AND adults) by not providing them with "readjustment" funding.

I have a female cousin in the marines. she enlisted right out of high school. bright kid. stellar athlete...not alot of money at home. they wined and dined her and filled her head with visions of world travel.

now she's pregnant and the only way she can afford to raise a child ON HER OWN...is to re-enlist in the military.

what about all the valuable career training she was supposed to receive? why can't she find a job and come home to have her baby?

McCain should be fucking ashamed of himself. his refusal to sign this bill will NOT affect vets like him. he came from money...if he wanted to go to school...his family could pay for it.

the kids who were recruited outside of malls and mcdonald's are the ones who suffer from this...not the pre-law preps who are doing out of POLITICAL ASPIRATIONS.

If she took grunt or something that doesn't translate in civilian life....then no wonder she's having a hard time.

There are jobs in the military, providing you score high enough on the ASVAB to get them, that can translate to big money on the outside.

I wasn't calling you fascist. I was referring to the way things are going in this country. Jobs being outsourced knocking workers out of jobs, welfare etc etc.
Yeah. MOS is the job title in the Army and Marines.

All in all, it just bugs the hell out of me that the people that are brave enough to stand up and fight for this country (on the rare occasion that THAT actually happens ~ the need to defend ourselves not people being brave enough to do it) aren't properly taken care of. When I was in, E-3 and below qualified for food stamps. Yearly pay increases never kept up with inflation and the ones responsible for making the pay increase so small are the same ones voting themselves HUGE pay increases....all the while working in a safe environment and usually working less than 120 days a year.
But, even if people were turned off enough to decide to not join, in a sufficient enough number to affect troop count, the draft would just be re-instated.

It's a damned shame when you really think about it.

dude...you costs to much. I know i said you would have a decent life, just not this decent. WTF. Your life isnt worth that much!!! Your sacrafice isnt worth that much. I'd much rather give it to people who arn't citizens of this country, or to keep bad people in prison, because you know what? that keeps us safe! Knowing hte bums have food.

But what about all the times i kept you safe. What about the death i've seen, i've caused, the stain on my soul, and my bloody hands? What about the mind i have lost. The family i had to abandon time and time again. I'm a fucking american. I fought for you. I KEPT YOU SAFE!! not the prisons. Not the border patrol. I kept you from real enemys, with real bullets and real bombs. I did everything you told me to and more. And now all i want to do is lead a normal life, with the family i abandoned for you.

We make a promise as a country. Our leaders make it through US. If you fight and die for us, sacrafice your mind and body to protect us, we will make sure you have a good life after words. Atleast a chance. It goes against the honor of america to break that word. The thing i hate the most about it, is that this isnt about iraq. This isnt about democrate or republican, this isnt about liking the people. This is how we show our respect to people that sacrafice everything for us. This is how we treat people who on a hill top, looked down at a sea of americans, and decided they would give their life to protect each and every one of them. Some wanted a better life, thats why they joined. But in the end the choice was the same. To turn your backs on that, reguardless of the sacrafice being self rightious or selfish, is beyond fucked up. If it doesn't get passed, someone should just make a fund for it anyways. Because even me, and my shiesty cheap ass wouldn't mind throwing money into that.
