How to: Thunderbird
NO LONGER VALID. EMAIL NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO USERS DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST.
How to use T-Bird
Read the damn tut yo ...
1. Get yourself an @swollencranium.com email address by using the form found in the quick links tool area.
2. Wait for a response to let you know that your info has been input into the mail server.
2a. While waiting for #2 to complete Go to HERE and get the latest T-bird.
3. Install T-bird, using the common settings ( unless you are a power user and know what you are doing).
4. Follow THESE simple instructions. In Tbird 3 its hella easy to setup .. and is nearly 100% automated.
5. After setting up your email .. do a test to ensure it works. By sending an email with an attachment.
6. Read the Tbird support center tuts and you will see the other things that Tbird does.
***************
Note:
If you have an Anti virus program that monitors ports or incoming mail you MAY have to tell it to allow T-bird to operate.
Check your particular anti-viri FAQs for more info.
*********************************
Note 2.
T-bird will most likey tell you that my mail service is invalid and will ask you if you are sure you want to connect to it.
I assure you it is simply because I have not submitted an SSL cert to become "trusted" site.
You can select to approve connection with no danger.

If you are having tech issues with this PLEASE ask for help, but PLEASE detail the error.
Such as :
I enter the email and password and Tbird fails to find the server.
Or:
I can receive mail but cant send mail.
Or better yet .. take a screen shot of the exact errors.

Apparently I got lucky? I've used the account today to file a report to tech support for a website I'm having issues with. The automated response came through with no problems, and almost immediately.
I'm sorry, but, you can take your can-do attitude and fuck it 'til it's raw. Can you do that? Can you?

Yep .. you and one other have had no issues.
I've set up 11 total accounts here at home and have had issues on three. I think its because my sever is not a trusted site that's causing issues as well as the SSL injection that Tbird tries to do automatically.
In all my error cases I solved it by manually editing the SMTP settings.

When you first sign in it SHOULD show you connecting to the sever like this :
Folks getting errors should check their settings manually.
Check the server settings for your account :
Then ensure your SMTP looks like this:

My only complaint is that Tbird 3 looks too cartoonish....I'mma look into skins/themes to fix that, though.
BUT thats a bit off topic :DI'm sorry, but, you can take your can-do attitude and fuck it 'til it's raw. Can you do that? Can you?
