I'll be rebuilding this thing, they are pretty straight forward actually being of all steel construction and cross country ready.
As a secondary project I am testing to see the start to finish difficulty of this project because if the $$ return is at a value sufficient to offset the cost involved x the amount of bullshit I have to deal with then I will purchase more of them and sell to the general public.
The issue is that I will buy them from military surplus. The military in their odd way of doing things has rated this type of equipment as DEMIL Q.
DEMIL Q means there is paperwork involved and odd restrictions on who I can re-sell the item to.
Also .. North Carolina are a bunch of fucking assholes at the DMV and require title of ownership in a specific way that is , by itself, a special head ache.
So I will be tracking this from point of purchase to completed project.
Step one: Bid.
DONE.
Step two: Win bid.
DONE.
Step three: Submit paperwork for EUC. ( EUC = end use certification )
Submitted .... awaiting approval.
^^ Since this is my 1st DEMIL Q form there is a chance that it can take 30-45 days to go through the system. They run a check on the buyer, actual verification of address etc.. etc...
Once approved for the 1st one then subsequent EUC take less than 10 days.
Step four: Submit form for SF97
SF97 will ensure I can title/register the property in NC.
Not done yet.
Step five: SF97 and EUC in hand. Drive to Jar head base and get the trailer.
Not done.
Step six : rebuild ....
Not done.

....hmm...hate to see the delivery cost on that bastard. But I want one when you are done.
I'm sorry, but, you can take your can-do attitude and fuck it 'til it's raw. Can you do that? Can you?

Well, you sir are on the list, friends and family get one for cost plus 10%. ( if I decide to do more of them.)
As far as initial delivery goes, its @ Camp Lejeune. I am gonna drive the 100 miles and get it no big deal.
(No idea what it would cost to be shipped cross country.)
Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune are the only good things about NC in my opinion.

If you do another and it's not too expensive I think I'd be interested, hell I'd even pick it up from you one weekend.
BTW, you are correct sir about NC. I hate this state..

Great .. you're on the list ! ( Friends list = cost + 10%)
And I've looked for a good trailer for the past 2 years and invariably the trailer was either :
a. A cheap under fed Lowes knock off that had a rated capacity of "Lawn Mower"
b. Some homemade hillbilly special with used mobile home axels, Still asking $1000 for it.
c. Some solid gold motherfucker ... @ over $ 1800 or MORE and still with under sized 14" tires.
Anyway ....
Let me get through the 1st one to see where the price point can be.
I won this bid with a $170 offer. But with added fee's for getting ownership papers ( sf97) and so on I'm already up to $230.
This does not take into account the needed sand blasting, repainting and the change over from 24v to 12v.
It looks like I can do ONE for under $500. And for a highly mobile, heavy duty all steel trailer that's still a pretty good deal.

I was born in Lumberton N.C. (even know where that is?)
Lived in N.C. only from Jr.H through H.School.........Hated every moment of it! (expect when engaged in sex with the belle next door. Did I ever tell you about her? Dad had a Ford camper parked on the driveway which was way off the main road, in the woods. We used to meet up around midnight. I did strange things to here in that camper).

The reduced length of that A-frame just gave me an erection. That fucker won't get stuck on any mounds that you may be going over!
I'd love to convert one of those into a camper trailer.

Well pardon me. Since GDP was planning on SELLING these and I and others had planned on BUYING, I assumed that question was directed to the BUYERS as well.
And, since GDP mentioned being able to haul twice its listed capacity as a general practice, I very nearly could haul a 2-ton elephant were I to want to.I'm sorry, but, you can take your can-do attitude and fuck it 'til it's raw. Can you do that? Can you?

One owns a cargo trailer to transport cargo.
I don't really know how to explain it any differently.
As for capacity, that is dictated mostly by the wheelbase of the prime mover, wheel base is a MORE important factor than engine power when selecting a trailer. ( debatable opinion)
This trailer will safely and effortlessly transport 1500 pounds over the roughest terrain that you can find. If the mover it is attached to can climb it or go through it then this trailer ( loaded properly) can follow and still maintain mobility.
The trailer CAN haul over 3500 pounds with good tires and a low speed / improved road surface. Not recommended for long hauls.
When one views a MILITARY trailer and its data plate of cargo tonnage numbers one must understand that these are OFFROAD cross country figures and not a value of its maximum improved road capability.
Civilian trailers have low ground clearance and are not usually suited for off road usage.

I'm way sold on it if you can produce it without much trouble.

OMFG .... its just a goddamn trailer.
Fucking Gov-ment assholes need to realize that trailers do NOT belong on the embargo list.
Grrr ...
Look @ this sheeeeet ... VVV
You have applied to purchase/receive surplus Department of Defense property.
This property is either on the U.S. Munitions List (MLI) or on the Commerce Control List (CCLI). MLI usually requires a State Department License prior to being exported. These items are usually identified as Demilitarization (DEMIL) Code B. CCLI may require a general or validated license from the Department of Commerce prior to export. These are typically “dual” use type items, in that they have both a military and civilian use and are usually identified as DEMIL Code Q.
It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure the property is correctly classified and all appropriate licenses are obtained prior to exporting the property.
Exporting without the appropriate export license (an approved End-Use Certificate, DLA Form 1822 does not constitute a license to export) or assisting another to illegally export property is a serious criminal offense and could result in substantial fines and/or imprisonment.
Section III of the End Use Certificate, DLA Form 1822, you signed in order to purchase MLI/CCLI from DRMS outlines your responsibilities. Please take the time to read it carefully. Please note that you are required to inform subsequent purchasers of this property of the information contained in the End Use Certificate regarding the laws and regulations pertaining to the property; that records of resale should be available for review if requested; and that the Government expects you to cooperate with Government representatives to verify the existence and condition of MLI/CCLI.
The Office of Defense Trade Controls (DTC), U.S. Department of State, controls and provides guidance on the export and temporary import of defense articles and defense services covered by the U. S. Munitions List. These include final action on license applications for defense trade exports, defense trade compliance, enforcement and reporting. DTC also provides guidance on registration, applications status and export law compliance for defense export approvals. DTC administers and enforces the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 C.F.R. Parts 120-130) and Arms Export Control Act (AECA) (22 U.S.C. 2778-2780). Their web-site address: www.pmddtc.state.gov provides exporters with information on company registration, licensing, compliance and also contains a reference library. A contact phone number is 202-663-1282. The Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of Commerce, is responsible for counseling exporters, conducting export control seminars, and drafting and publishing changes to the Export Administration Regulations. It is also responsible for licensing and compliance actions relating to the special comprehensive license and for processing of license applications and commodity classifications. Their website: www.bis.doc.gov provides exporters with information on the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security’s policies, regulations, exporter licensing requirements, compliance, and enforcement and also contains a key resources reference. A contact phone number is 202-482-4811.
