Suggestions for the next raffle
Let me preface this by explaining my intention behind these raffles:
Primary :
To reward the loyal membership with a possibility to pick up some cool gear for a next to nada price.
Those of you that have stuck around for the life of this place have my appreciation, I know for a fact its a trying and oft time boring environment when we have no new members showing up on a regular basis.
The old saying goes "familiarity breeds contempt".
SO my thanks to you is shown by this raffle thingy, I purposefully kept the ticket price low so that EVERYONE could afford to enter, I mean fuck dude if your ass is so destitute that you can't swing a $2 ticket then what the fuck are you doing with an internet connection ?
Secondary :
To gain some new members by exploiting the social links.
But this seemed to fail as well, since Absinthe and I and two or three are the only ones even using the fucking Digg and Stumble links.

In the 1st raffle only 7 people played.
The second, only 8.
I will NOT do another unless there is more interest.
So here's your chance, make some suggestions for the next raffle.
Or not, whatever.

I would like a van. It doesn't have to have carpeted walls and ceiling inside, but I consider that a plus.

How about a box set of DVD's, say for a fairly popular television show.
Ipod or other Mp3 player.
Portable dvd player.I'm sorry, but, you can take your can-do attitude and fuck it 'til it's raw. Can you do that? Can you?

What about a gift certificate for Best Buy or something? It's something that anyone could have a use for.
I already have a camera, a camcorder, an MP3 player.. but I don't have a PS3.

On topic: Walk on water ball!
It's 300 bucks, yo.
or Rovio WiFi Robot

I have no idea what it does, but it's hella awesome and costs 299 Ģ.

I like the gift certificate idea.
Also just straight up money wouldn't be bad. You'd be surprised how many folks would enter a raffle if the prize was 50 - 100 bucks.
And as funny as it might sound, hd tv's are going down in price like crazy, in fact i wouldn't mind a little off brand one to go in my bedroom.. Hell or even computer stuff like flat screen monitors or pimped out keyboards and other fun gadget like stuff would be pretty pimpin' prizes.
Folks is poor these days, so they will go for just about anything.
Also, i think the raffles need to be spaced out a bit.
As much as i love them, it's just not practical for you or most anyone else having money issues these days to enter a raffle every month. (God i hate saying that..my greed says lets have two a month so i'll have better odds at winning, but my wallet says i must be smokin crack to think i can afford that shit. haha)
I would also suggest we all try to focus on the forum for a bit before we do any more raffles.
People (myself included) need a stumble/ Digg step by step tutorial so everyone can see how easy it is to get the word out.
This forum is packed with some pretty big smarty pants type folks and when we actually put effort into it we are able to make some pretty interesting threads.
I for one, would like to see more talk about the Obama administration and the government in general. *cough*Nik* *cough*
Folks seem to respond to stuff that may effect them directly, also, if i could just get my funds in order i want to get a digital camera so i can add some nifty 'how to' stuff to the tutorials section. Like i said before, folks is poor these days, so money saving - do it yourself type stuff would probably actually help people as well as generate traffic to the site.
Lets see, what else...
Oh yeah, and i would also like to see a SwollenCranium myspace page...as lame as it might sound, it's a pretty good way to help get the word out via friend requests and folks would love the idea of a two dollar raffle. We can also put in member submitted reviews and pictures of us showing love for the site so folks won't think it's just spam.
I'm sure i'll think of more suggestions later, but that's all i got for now. hehe

Yeah, I tried to stay with-in the realm of the possible.
If (when?) we have a couple hundred regular members I would easily and gladly make a raffle with prizes in the $$$$ range.
Violet has some sorta voodoo vaginer power when it comes to Digg and Stumble .. she has 40,000 views on her blog just from those links.I would also suggest we all try to focus on the forum for a bit before we do any more raffles.

She swears all she did was keywords, but I've tried it and can't get more than a hundred visits at a time.
I know she is busy now, but perhaps she can be persuaded to let US ALL in on her secret.
I'm a Myspace / face book n00b, I know how to navigate to the URL and nothing more, ....Lets see, what else...

Oh, no, all of the above mentioned stuff is 200 bucks and under (waaay under), my fella was looking at hd tv's for me the other day and he found quite a few at crazy discount prices...and good lord, that think geek site has TONS of stuff that is super cheap, but cool as fuck.
And i would be happy to help you out in any way regarding the myspace/facebook thing.
I'm a total nerd when it comes to social networking sites so i would be able to help set one up for the site. All i would really need from you is to be able to go to you and ask you questions as to what the page should look like and to approve content. Also maybe some of the members here that are fancy with graphics and stuff could make up a few banners and other site related artwork to go on the page. :)
It's just a thought, you don't have to go for it if you don't wanna, I'm just trying to do what i can to help. I really do love this site and i want it to start finding ways to increase it's membership.
To be honest, if we can just get a few more members everything else would be gravy. And we could get to the point of fine tuning the awesome shit that would make this site unique from other forums out there.
The problem is the members here have gotten lazy (myself included) and have put pretty much everything off on you. But with only ONE person doing everything that is overworked as it is, it's going to continue to be slow goings.
Ya can't get anything good without working a little for it, all we need is to get the other members to come out of the woodwork with their talents and skills to help contribute a bit. They won't have to keep it up forever, they just need to help generate enough folks that would be able to take up the slack and keep things moving when they are having an off day.
The key to success is to distribute the work load evenly so nobody gets overwhelmed.
Again...it's just a thought and it's most defiantly easier said than done, but i really think we can dooo eeet if enough of us are willing to put the effort into it.

Look at this lame thing ---> http://www.myspace.com/swollencranium
I dunno how to even change from the default layout.

Pffft! That's not lame at all!
All you gotta do is get some snazzy banners and a swollen cranium ish background and display picture(s) and what not to spruce it up a bit and a more extensive 'about me' section detailing what the site is about.
Give me some ideas as to what you would like, like images and a 'feel' of how you want the site represented and I'll work on making something for the page.
Also, you could put the raffle video up as well as any other video type thing advertising the site.
That would get it out on youtube as well as give folks stuff to look at when they view the page.
It's not that hard, you just gotta start rounding up some of the creative types on here to help out where they can.

Honestly, I hate myspace. However, if it gins up registration at SC it will be well worth it!

Yeah, but it's a necessarily evil.
EVERYBODY and their momma has one, so that is a huge amount of folks that you can reach for free.
I suppose Cranium could try to get a banner up on random websites too if he wanted, but those always cost moneys, myspace and facebook are free advertising.
