      Das Chickenhaus

So, in an effort to gain some self-sufficiency for my family we are gonna raise us some em ere chickens.. While I'm no carpenter I do learn quickly. Recently I helped a local man build a barn for his horse(s) and am using that experience with all my home projects. The first is the chicken coop. As soon as I get some pics upload from the camera I'll post them.

Whilst not nearly as awesome as our fearless leaders Jeep I figured I'd at least contribute to this particular forum.

In the future it will include:

      Complete build of master suite
walling in of basement for 3 rooms
moving living room wall back 4 feet

Other things will be posted, too. For instance, we are also rebuilding and "souping" up an electric Jeep for my son.

      Pics to follow!

Fuuuuuuck that. Any guy who can't cut lumber in any other fashion than straight-90's is either gay, retarded, or a combination of the two. DIY network is your friend.

I bought my first house at the age of 23. Talk about a trial by fire. There's no better way to learn than by actually taking on the task yourself.

My shed started out as an 8X8. It ended up being 10X12 with 8' sidewalls, a 12' peak and overhead storage.

Don't let the project materials fool ya.

I am a capable mechanic, carpenter, survivalist and all around bad ass motherfucker.

I choose to do it this way mainly because I have not done it this way before, and if the kit removes hours or days from this project I will use it again.

Anyway .. this is Top's project thread, let's not make this about me and my manliness .. mmmkay ?

Hindsight being what it is I'd have spent the money for the kit. Especially due to my lack of carpentry skills. But, the purpose of stick building it is that I'm making an attempt at self sufficiency that I currently lack. Plus, the kids love to help and that is a good start at being self sufficient. Now, as my first attempt at a build I will admit that it sucked, kind of, but was worth it. On the plus side, it's just a chicken coop, so fuck-ups can be forgiven, I suppose.

Sorry folks for the lack of attention to my own thread. Ever see what happens to a digital camera that is left in the rain for a couple of days? Anyway, I got the camera functioning again but the SD card is fucked for sure. Occassionally it'll display some pics but not always. They are sealed poorly and this may play well in my favor. There can't be much moisture in it so hopefully it'll dry out before anything corrodes too badly.

I love technology but it does have it's issues, especially when left in the hands of unattentive kids.
