Rape and Sexual abuse at Abu Ghraib prison
This is a complete outrage and great embarrassment to the American government and citizens.
This kind of behavior has no justification and is as of now, condemned by all nations, regardless democratic or dictatorial.
The Bush and Chaney administration should be held responsible for this as well as those prison guards and as far as I am concerned, nothing less than a firing squad.
Is THIS what America represents? Well, if that is the case, FUCK YOU, Amerika.
Photos show rape and sex abuse in Iraq jails: report
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090528/...abughraib_rape
LONDON (Reuters) – Photographs of Iraqi prisoner abuse which U.S. President Barack Obama does not want released include images of apparent rape and sexual abuse, Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on Thursday.
The images are among photographs included in a 2004 report into prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib prison conducted by U.S. Major General Antonio Taguba.
Taguba included allegations of rape and sexual abuse in his report, and on Wednesday he confirmed to the Daily Telegraph that images supporting those allegations were also in the file.
"These pictures show torture, abuse, rape and every indecency," Taguba, who retired in January 2007, was quoted as saying in the paper.
He said he supported Obama's decision not to release them, even though Obama had previously pledged to disclose all images relating to abuses at Abu Ghraib and other U.S.-run prisons in Iraq.

First off, I agree that acts like these are horrific and extremely unacceptable. That said, every nation has at least one ruinous asshole besmirching the idea of human decency.
This ONE report does not indicate the entire nation of the United States or its people. This, unfortunately, may be a large portion of how the US is perceived throughout the world - but it certainly is NOT all that the US stands for.
I don't understand why you have presented a pertinent, time-relevant article that very well, on its own, could have provoked a great deal of conversation... and then clinched it with a negative thought, generalizing millions of people's attitudes based on the actions of a handful. Did you feel that was more provocative than the article alone? Do you want shit-slinging debate rather than objective opinion on the topic of the article?
As a resident of Asia and a student to her teachings... it would be wise to submit evidence of either her great moral superiority or atrocities akin to those you've chosen to loudly wretch and moan about."If you are flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit."

^^^ I'm betting on shit slinging debate.
Actions like that are reprehensible, but a minority group has never been an accurate representation of the whole, especially when that minority engages in activities that are expressly forbidden by the group of which they are a subset.
In short, good article (in that it would have caused much discussion) but methinks your execution was lacking.I'm sorry, but, you can take your can-do attitude and fuck it 'til it's raw. Can you do that? Can you?

What I think or the execution does not take away from the facts nor should any ones opinions be put to the side, unless they wish to use poor excuses which does not surprise me in the least.
There have been plenty of good threads made in the Green Zone yet next to no discussions.
Why should this sub-forum be any different?
You want to discuss, by all means, discuss.
Just recently Chaney was on the boob tube defending the Bush administrations political actions in all retrospects, stating that the closure of Gitmo is a grave mistake on Obama's part.
This is the same guy who made millions for his company while in power and shot his buddy in the face!
What I say goes, but I'll direct it properly:
Fuck off to the Bush regime.

Hate the war not the Soldier.
Congress enacts declarations of War.
The president CAN NOT deploy a military force for more than 90 days WITHOUT congressional approval.
So, your arguments would be more valid, and resonate a little better if you would not point your finger at ONE dude every damn time there is a problem.
I agree that there is serious issues with events like the one you posted in the opening diatribe.
Anyway ..
You make a big fuss about stuff like this. So much so that you make it sound like YOU have all the answers, so please, what are the answers ??

I saw the words "rape," "sexual abuse," and "prison" and was immediately confused by the negative tone of the editorial. As if these words have never been associated with each other before, and to learn of their association with each other on American soil is somehow completely unheard of outlandish blasphemy, makes me chuckle a little.

Kommie. As if your country has not done anything horrible... to its OWN people. I'm not even gonna read all that half-ass bullshit you put together. Maybe the "Internetz police" will catch you in your home country, then see how much better the grand ole' People's Republic is. Ask some of the people in the Republic of China, or Taiwan how communists act eh?

Seriously?
Just don't do it at all.
(......going out to left field for a bit with this.....)
The American media cannot get their thumbs out of their asses and call it as it is......torture.
This whole thing about water-boarding being used by the CIA and now becoming a household word is being watered down (pun intended) with less sensitive words like "harsh" or "brutal".
Even Mr. Obama is flat out against it and addresses it as 'torture' and nothing less.
You can thank The New York Times for this crap. All other media outlets, except for a few like Al Jazera on the cable network and other Internet sources, follow the leader (NYT) and will never stray off the path unless they want to be persecuted by their peers.
In other words, the U.S. media has no balls, and once again, the American citizen is taking it all up the ass, no questions asked.
Dude, are you serious with this.
OK, I'll take this as being ignorance on your part and give you the benefit of the doubt................
These days, China is far from being communism and Taiwan is even farther.
Are you not reading the news recently??!!
Taiwan has no desire of being under China's political umbrella, and for that matter, nor do any of the economic zones that are prospering, albeit slowly, with a capitalist system.
I should know. I just got back from a day trip in Shunzhen, about a 20 min train ride from my pad (Hong Kong).
Speaking of Hong Kong, it is Hong Kong SAR as in Special Administrative Region. Do you get it now?
Now, as far as any abuse and censorship occurring in Mainland China:
OF COURSE!! There is no question about it nor any need to discuss it.
It is somewhat, by nature to expect it from a Once-Upon-a-Time Communist regime that is hugging capitalism more than Ron Jeremy's wiener hugged Jenna Jamesons meat flaps.
What one does NOT expect, is to read about the American government, you know, the land of the free, torturing people.
Let's face it. 911 was a show that the Bush administration put on and should get an Oscar for draping a blanket over the American citizens big fat ego head.

Whoa ... you lost me on this one.
Until proven otherwise I will, from this post forward, read your statements in the same way I have read "Green eggs and Ham" to my kids ;
With a funny voice and goofy pantomime movements to elaborate on the silliness of the story content.
I think I will choose a french voice for your words .. It will sound pretty much like Inspector Clouseau.

Ok, Red boy, you took what I said and just spewed your own bullshit off of one line.
Let me break it down for you so you understand....
I'll even break it down into a MATHEMATICAL FORMULA
a X 10 = y
a = number of atrocities known and unknown America has committed since it's creation.
y= number of atrocities "China" has committed since ... let's just give you some leeway, let's say the early '30s before Japan invaded when it was Mao and Shek and the other lil' warlords fighting..
You did get to read about that in history class before you moved right? I'm hoping you've done some research on your own on that period.
It's common knowledge that "China" YOUR country has committed way more crimes then America. That's what I'm getting at. As for your reply concentrating on the economic transition the "mainland" is in and you visiting Taiwan, you completely missed the point. Half of all your posts is just Anti-American bullshit. I don't know what's more pathetic, the fact you have spent probably the greater part of the last 5 years crusading against the USA in two forums that I know of, or that you still hold a US Citizenship per a previous post by Cranium.
I highly doubt anybody here has said "America is Perfect". It isn't. We know. Those of us who live here, like it. If you hate America so much, then why don't you just join Al Qaeda and fight against it? I'm sure they'll give you a pretty body bag when your time comes.
I could have a more meaningful conversation with a fresh turd on a hot day.

Your math sucks. You've only equated American atrocities to Chinese.
I think your lost.
Let me help you.
People the world over are NOT SURPRISED by Chinese actions that go counter to human rights.
People the world over ARE SURPRISED when freedom fry loving America does.
Mao and Shek, or supposedly Chiang Kai-shek, were fighting the Japanese.
Mao came into power, with a little help from the Americans.
Mao was almost a complete asshole who murdered 30 million Chinese during the "Great Leap Forward" by pulling the farmers out of the fields and into the factories.
Chiang Kai-shek fled to Formosa and found Taiwan.
My country? And how is that?
I never said I hated America.
I did not write the article, so keep you personal insults to yourself, PM them to me, or do the kudo neg thing.
Other than that, keep your comments related to the article, not me.
You've yet to speak on it.
I've nothing more to say, except what pertains to the article.

Try not to act like a complete ass.
Like you've never heard any other theories in regards to 911 or is it you swallowed the whole American propaganda spoon full?
I will not go into 911, so don't even bother.
Try to keep your comments related to the article.
And remember, don't hate the thread creator, hate the author of the article. His email address is linked. Check it out.

I don't think you can honestly say it is what America stands for. The rape and sex abuse in the Iraqi jails was done by American soldiers. Yes it was dispicable and everyone admonishes the act. However to act as though the American government thought it was right or that it is exactly what they stand for is a downright falsehood.
You can't blame a government for the act of its citizens. The fact that the American government and the US Major General showed that they did not support this shows us it is not what they stand for.
