Re: You Know....
It normally takes more than 1 night to break 11 months of habit. Whether your baby is with you or not you will still be programmed to be thinking of his/her needs constantly. There are other things you could enjoy doing whilst on your own apart from sleeping.
Oh, good morning too, hun.

Re: You Know....
I'm the same way. My husband and son went to my sister in laws house overnight a few months ago. I stayed home because I can't breathe in their house(they have two dogs, and you can actually smell dog BAD there) and I just couldn't sleep in. I wake up at 6:40AM every day, I dont even need an alarm clock, it's sad..

Re: You Know....
This comment keeps sticking out to me. Even if Dad is around, it doesn't mean he's willing or able to watch his kids.
My husband is a great Dad as far as the fun/interactive aspect goes, but he is just so clueless as to how to communicate with little kids, what they can understand, and what they're capable of that it would be a disaster to leave the two of them, unsupervised for an extended period of time.
He's also the guy that sits down "to watch the news for a little bit" and crashes the fuck out for hours. <-- not so good with a mischief carpet urchin on the loose.

Re: You Know....
Abso-effin-lutely right. Take Stella Fella (please? someone?)... he's a fantastic, fun, hands-on kind of dad to our two girls. But ffs, he's lost if I'm not there to keep things on an even keel.
My way of parenting is based around routine. I'm a bit of a stickler for it, and it's something even HE has commented on as a leveller for them.
So... why is it that if I go out with Da Girls for the evening he's on the phone after 2 hours complaining that the baby is crying, and BoM is running rings around him? BECAUSE he didn't stick with the routine.
Simple. Only a man could fuck it up.
Like the internet, do ya? Have you got kids?
Yeah, in your inbox. You disgust me. Al Murray, Pub Landlord
