Help Please
I need some help with this legal situation. I was served papers for court today. My ex is suing me for my car just because his name is on the tittle to. He has never had possession of it and I paid for the car. Granted back when we were together he helped me here and there. We have been split for three years and all of a sudden this. I can not afford a lawyer. So any tips I could use. He is wanting the car or 5,000. What the fuck!
It is what it is....

Can you prove who paid for the car? If it can't be proven either way, then fuck him. He's trying his luck, and I suggest you call his bluff.
Having said that......
When you say his name is on the title "too", can I take it that it's his name along with yours? And by the term "title" are you referring to the payment terms or the vehicle ownership? (Those are completely different entities over here in Blighty).
I think that *worst case scenario* he MIGHT be entitled to half of the cars current market value (but only if he has a good lawyer). That being the case, you should sabotage the mechanics, erm, slightly. That way its not worth an awful lot at auction. Give him $100. Ha!
I'm not helping much. Sorry.

You shouldn't have put his name on the title. He is legally entitled to half unless you can prove that perhaps he received assets similar in value when you split or that you took over debt equal in value. If you owed money on it still and you continued to pay for it...you're debt to him would be less. Or if he takes the car. . .he may owe you the 1/2 the value when you split plus the additional payments you made. Were you actually married or just dating? That might also make a difference.

If you can't prove that you payed for most of it and the "here and there" situations that he helped you with the payment, you're going to get legally fisted in court.
It's legally his. I would say blow it up so no one gets it...but he'll then be entitled to the value of the car...
Sorry amythist. Maybe you should punch him in the nads, break your hand, and then sue him over your broken hand.I can haz signicher!

If you lose the car, loosen some of the coolant lines leading into the radiator before you hand it over. Maybe also place a small cut on the timing belt with a razorblade. Tampering with the brakes, steering or suspension will lead to murder charges if he crashes and dies - but fucking up the engine is harmless (just not to his wallet). Coins in the CD player is also a costly problem.
Oooooo you could have so much fun that I almost hope you lose the car!

Pfft. He's a dickface.
You should turn it around on him. Make him pay $5k and give him the car. The one with loosened coolant lines and coins in the CD player.

1. Invite him over to "chat".
2. Give him a beer from the fridge laced with rat poison.
3. Hit him over the head with a shovel just to make sure.
4. Dispose of body.
5. Keep the car.You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

It's not as easy for him to casually sweep in and rob you as you might have allowed yourself to believe thus far.
He's got a few hurdles he's got to overcome in order to milk you like he wants to, so whatever the fuck you do, do NOT assume that because he's willing to take you to court that he's right and/ or entitled to what he claims he is. That's why there are courts in the first place, chickadee.
First, he's going to have to prove (the burden of proof lies on his shoulders, not yours) that the vehicle is worth 10 grand. From what I know about this car, that's fucking laughable.
Secondly, you've been seperated from him for over three years. I'm not sure what the satute of limitations are on something of this nature, but I'm reasonalby sure that he's got a limited amount of time to try to get funds out of you before eventually the state will not recognize his claim.
Get yourself a free consultation from a lawyer. Even if you don't hear what you want to hear, you've lost nothing in the process and only stand to gain from it.

Piss in an ice cube tray (or piss in something that will catch it, then pour it in an ice cube tray), and make piss ice. Make him a dandy drink on the yellow rocks, with about 5 drops of Visine it it. Preferably do all of this right before the court appointment, or some other big public appearance he has going. Hehe.

Run a wire from the red coupling on pretty much every electrical system (starter, #3 spark plug, AC, seatbelt dummy light, cigarette lighter, etc.) on the car to the horn.
Then, if you wanna, buy a shitload more horns and attach them to the frame and various hard to get to places via industrial epoxy and like, concrete anchors or 9' lags. Run hot wires to those as well.
You also might break a window then pour cod liver oil in the heater vents, and stash sardines and shit in every hard to get to nook and cranny in the interior. It'll smell like ass and completely fill that fucker with stray cats.
Or, y'know, win in court and keep your car.
