Thanks FB:

For showing me just how many folks are drama queens. And especially those drama queens that own stock in the "I'm not a drama queen" club.
For letting me see just how many people will tell intimate details about their DAILY lives to "friends", family and complete strangers.
For those special souls that are so mad at the world and their "friends" list and themselves that they announce ( ON their FB wall !! ) that they have grown tired of every day life and Facebook drama and can't take it anymore. ( or a similar statement) All the while failing to see just how pathetically narcissistic it is to make that statement and then wait for comments!!!
For showing me just how fucking stupid people really are. ( I already knew this one ..heheh)
For showing me that people that are stuck in a shitty situation will most likely always be in a shitty situation and this shows easily just by looking at their friends list and the photos they choose to show of themselves and their shenanigans.
For showing me that talking smack about someone that IS NOT on your friends list usually means that that person will never know you are talking smack about them .. so why bother?

Actually, I'm not a big fan of facebook myself...but my Lady has an account there. She keeps in touch with friends she would otherwise have lost contact with...much as you stated you do...I don't think I would ever open an account there myself, but I guess it's not a total loss..good friends are hard to find and sad to lose track of.

Now (as you suggested) I shall go.

Encouraging a whole host of antisocial activities and behaviour, including but certainly not limited to: stalker type and sociopathic tendancies, narcissim and superficiality, especially in teenage girls (or middle aged men), cyberbullying, mob mentalities etc.etc.
Exposing the successful lives of my ex-boyfriends post relationship...
... Or not.
Encouraging dependency and mindless need for acceptance: I don't even really know you, but LIKE MY PHOTOS pleEEEEEEasE?!?!?
Encouraging ridiculous activities and games such as Farmville, where you waste time waiting for imaginary crops to grow. WTF?!
Letting me announce (in my inane stupidity) to my friendly neighbourhood criminals that I'm out of town for a week .- hence my house will be free to ransack. No, no anytime. Really, thanks.

I deleted my Facenovel months ago. Twitter is more amusing, anyway. It also leads to less procrastination.

Thanks FB for:

Letting me spy on ex-girlfriends and laugh at how miserable and lame they are now.
Letting me spy on former colleagues and classmates and laugh at how miserable and lame they are now.
Letting me ruin people's shit in front of their entire family and their friends without fear of physical retribution.
Letting me post photos of unliked co-workers in compromising photographs in their work uniform that lead to them being severely reprimanded.
Letting me laugh at how some people get so addicted to social networking sites that it literally destroys their social life - ironic much?
Making the phrase "Like" a common occurance when talking to FB-addicts in the real world.
Causing all non-work related websites to be blocked on the company's internet account.
Nothing.

Facebook is ok. But it's no big deal either. Some people I know have thousands of friends there. I just use it to keep in touch with my family and real friends.
Farmville is a pain in the butt. I tried it, but I don't have the time. I'm busy as a bee these days.

Facebook is not all bad. What a lot of people forget is that you can block all kind of stuff. Don't like the games? Block them. Don't like the app that tells you how "hot" a certain person is today? Block it.
Some things are annoying though. Like the 15th repost of a "virus warning" or "Facebook is going to charge you. It was even on the news...". Let's not forget the good old "please repost if you know somebody who....". And last but not least what I call "Facebook Wisdom" where people think they need to spread whatever wisdom they think they accumulated over their short lives via posts like "My heart is a rock, but only if you look closely enough you will find the diamond."

Yes, that one was real. Unfortunately...

I do play some of the games but drop them if they turn out to be boring or full of bugs (not the crawly type). I have met a few nice people through the games. For example a lady in Wisconsin. She posts recipes every once in a while. Win!!!!

I also keep in touch with family and friends. It makes it a bit easier to share what is going on. So instead of emailing tons of pics of the Blue Ridge Parkway (sigh, it was so pretty), I post them on Facebook and they can look at them wheneva...

Again, it's not all bad, it just depends on what you do with it... :)
