View Full Version : No global warming for next 10 years

'The Earth's temperature may stay roughly the same for a decade, as natural climate cycles enter a cooling phase, scientists have predicted.
A new computer model developed by German researchers, reported in the journal Nature, suggests the cooling will counter greenhouse warming.
However, temperatures will again be rising quickly by about 2020, they say.'
The earth's temperature is not currently rising as previous predictions have said and now we have this report coming out.
Cynics would say that this is covering both bases or more basically 'covering one's ass'. ln the meantime your fuel costs will increase dramatically in order to combat climate change.
There is a growing belief that climate change is the biggest scam ever perpetuated on the human race and reports like this only adds to the belief. ln 10 years will we have another report saying that there will be no change for another decade?
lt makes one wonder.

Global warming IS a scam. End of story.
It would appear that you are correct in your statement.
Time for Common Sense
The global warming scare has enabled environmental advocacy groups to raise billions of dollars in contributions and government grants. It has given politicians opportunities to pose as prophets of doom and slayers of evil corporations. And it has given bureaucrats at all levels of government, from the United Nations to city councils, powers that threaten our jobs and individual liberty.
It is time for common sense to return to the debate over protecting the environment. An excellent first step would be to end the “global warming” scam.

Pink, I clicked the link and read the 8 reasons. Yes I came away with even more cynicism than I usually have, all the time, everyday. Thanks for nothing on that one!
Anyway, well I don't get it. If it's all a scam, then why are the icecaps melting? And depleting at such a rate that the US government has announced that the Polar Bear is a threatened species because of it?

The government has a lot to gain from the scam as well.
As far as the ice caps melting... who cares? So they'll melt a little, and eventually refreeze bigger than we've noticed them, then melt again... it's proven science that the Earth is cyclic in everything, and different cycles within different time periods. For instance, some of the weather patterns have repeated themselves within the last 100 years ONCE, while some repeat themselves every 5 years, etc. Sorry, but the Earth is a little bit bigger, older, and established than any human being, scientist or not. One human lifetime of observations are only PART of the big picture.
So I stand by the fact that the whole global warming issue is a scam.
The hole in the ozone layer? Think of a pin-sized hole in a globe, that's about the size of the hole. Also, research has confirmed that our industry has nothing to do with that. The effect is akin to blowing a parked car into moving (with your mouth).
Anyway, it's a SCAM age now... everything requires investigation before buying so you don't get ripped off. I hate greedy people.

I disagree.
I dont think global warming is a scam, but i dont think either sides are telling the whole truth. It's almost like the abortion thing. The fact is, yes, there is a green house effect. Anyone who lived 10 years ago knows it has gotten hotter. Though i also think that people are vastly underestimating mother nature here. The more people, the more shit we break down, the more resources we use up, it causes a few obvious effects. For one, natural disasters. Heat and air changes, wind currents, all subtle things, causes huricanes, typhons, cyclones, and the like. drilling oil causes problems with the fault lines. Etc. Do i think the polar ice caps will melt? I dont think it really will get that far. We have had an ice age before. We will probly have another one. One thing has remained proven and consistant thoughout the earths creation. Earth resets itself.
The other thing is the clean air. We get most of our breathable air from plants....underwater. Yes, kelp, seaweed, and the like. The rainforest has alot as well, but it's not all from the god damn tree's. They fail to menchin that ALL plants produce oxygen. so a field of grass is still working for out envirement.
I understand all the theory's on both sides perfectly. It just seems there both completely missing shit you learned in 3rd grade science class. Throwing a alumnium foil gum wraper out the window doesn't mean the earth is doomed, It means your going to have to live with that gum wraper on this earth for the next 10 years. Just the same, sending a bunch of chemicals in the sky, will effect the rain. but the names like 'acid' rain and shit, are totally misleading, i want to see people getting hit by rain and fucking melting. I'm just waiting for it to either be called global sun bathing, or global burning. Cause those are such better propaganda tools.
Also, i dont believe a damn science report on this in the last 10 years. Common sense says that neither side is being honest. The only thing we do know for sure, is that sun will eventually go super nova, and earth will be destroyed. But that has nothing to do with global warming. I wont be suprised if that is fit in somewhere on the notes the next passing.

Scientists are becoming nothing more than Prophets of Doom. The reports are 'this will happen', 'that will happen' and apart from saying the West has to cut it's emissions, what else do they come up with or try to come up with?
Cutting emissions will do absolutely nothing ... by 2010 China's emissions will totally negate all of the Kyoto agreements (even if they reach them) and thats not taking into account lndia and other 3rd World countries.
Climate change is constantly with us and has been ever since the earth was formed. You cannot control climate change, you have to adapt to it ... as civilisations always have.
Tree huggers should never be listened to ... their ideal scenario would be everybody back living in caves. They went on about organic foods but it takes twice the amount of land to produce the same amount of 'normal' foods! Then they went on about bio-fuel but that means a shortage of food as the land now produces crops just for fuel!
The priority has to be a new fuel source and by that l don't mean stupid wind farms and solar panels. Cold fusion is the holy grail ... or maybe a fuel that runs on tree huggers!
The West will destroy it's economies by adhering to emission controls whilst China and the rest will benefit by ignoring them.

Again, thats an overly simplistic view. I agree that half the scientists are prhopets of doom, and the tree huggers are way out of line as usual, but so are the other side. Pretending like the shit thats going on effects nothing at all goes against one of the most basic laws of the universe. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We have already proven that it's hurt our current envirement.
Proof: acid rain exists, a 5 yearold can messure the amount of acid in the rain, and compare it to the level 5 years ago, and can compare it the level in a year. What we are doing IS effecting the envirement.
HOWEVER, acid rain has not destroyed life as we know it. it has damaged crops, and added a slight stint to the general immune system, which modern medicine has more then compensated for.
lets take a realistic look at a few things.
Trash - picking up trash off the street DOES NOTHING for the envirement. at best it saves a few animals lives, and perhaps starves a few more. We move the trash to garbage backs, that are picked up by trucks that are dumped in giant trash dumps OR are burned up. In other words, this is not saving the earth, it is relocating it.
Recycling - It's a short term solution for a problem that doesnt exist. Eventually the trash will go back to the earth and form what it was before. you burn up steel, or trash it, the minerals will go back to there pureist form and some of those will create new steel ore. bones become fossils and fossils become oil. law 2 of the universe nothing is ever created or destroyed. it just changes form when its existance is 'ended'. Recycling is just a way to speed up that process so we dont have to wait and remine the steel ore, or oil.
The final one. There is nor never will be a true solution to world hunger. If that happens it will destroy the eco system. If that happens, we will die off because we dont have the nessisary things to maintain balance in the world. if it doesnt then we will die off, because we dont have the food to maintain the population.
Voltaire wrote that nature is the one thing above god that no human could ever truely understand. I agree. It is perfection in balance. EVERYTHING Both sides to this stupid arguement truely believe they can effect it and change it and alter it long term. The suceed in only short term solutions to problems mother nature has already made pre determined solutions.
The most basic and classic example of this is its human nature to try to be better and gain power. This is why nukes where devolped. Eventually they will be used...again. Wars are part of our nature. Thats why they always happen. Think of it as one of natures forms of population control.

No-ones pretending that it does not have effects but it's something we have to adapt to.
The basis of science is to disprove things. Now that may sound odd but it's true. A scientist once discovering something then sets about to disprove it in order to prove it.
Now if you alienate all the scientists that are against climate change theories you end up with a dictatorship of science. Even worse is when it becomes political as it has now done. It's not far from the current situation in the Middle East where religion runs the science (what little there is of it)
Scientists that dare oppose climate change are called 'climate change deniers' which was used intentionally to bring to mind 'holocaust deniers' just to discredit them. What is scientific in that?
The major discoveries in this world have been by odd-balls and rebels and to try and silence them and stop their work is pure folly.

^ Quite possibly the most well thought out, intelligent, and spot-on post I've seen in a year.
Kudos.....whore.

I agree completely. I think the major scientists that are being listened to, are the ones controled by either the tree huggers, or right wing politiions. I've openly heard that it has no effect on the envirement, or so little it doesn't matter, and i've openly heard it called the new apocolypse. I agree its a question of adapting. I still believe there is a limit to our adaptability. I belive nature adapts better then we do.

Check out this book. It's at the local library (well, maybe hard for you to do now).

He pretty much debunks the whole thing as a scam.

Crichton is a good author, and I've read many of his books. However, I don't believe I've read that one... yet. Thanks for the suggestion.
