I know a lot of you don't care to talk about sports up in this place, but I'd bet you each have a favorite team you occasionally check in on. List your favorites on here or talk about anything sport related.
That said, I like hockey and NFL football with the LA Kings and Oakland Raiders topping my list.
Now I read that hockey thug Donald Brashear is going to be an MMA fighter?!
"Brashear was involved in a serious brawl on ice where he continued to hammer a defenseless downed player earning a five game suspension. After the altercation, he allegedly attacked a fan in the parking lot, and charges are pending at this time. Brashear turned 39 in January. Vincent reports that he has yet to apply to e commission for a license, and his most recent on-ice escapade may prevent him from obtaining one." -C/P
^This is the dolt that the whole world seemed to love when former LA King/Boston player Marty Mcsorley hit him upside the head with his stick that sent old Donny flopping on the ice. Sure what Marty did was unfortunate but I never felt sorry for that ape, as he was much dirtier (and not nearly the player) at his role than Mcsorley ever was.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnP18StCoHA(shitty quality but didn't want the 5min version)
Good on ya Marty..twas one for the ages.http://swollencranium.com/forums/images/icons/happysmile.png
So if Donald does fight MMA on June 4 against a relatively (?) unknown heavyweight, I hope the ? kicks the shit out of him.

I've never been into any sport as a spectator. I do not follow any college or pro sport.
For awhile while I was teaching combatives for the Army I followed the MMA and K-1 circuit. But now I've given that up as well, although I do stop to read the articles as they flash across my news reader if I see a name I recognize.
I spend less than 5 minutes a week on sports info of any type, I'd estimate.

Man, not even a baseball score? Like to check if upside your head won or not. I also play a free game on some betting site (don't gamble though, unless I'm in Vegas) that pays a hundred grand (yes 100) if you can hit 22 wins in a row. <---was 20 but after a couple people hit it, it moved up one and so on. It's a free game so why not? 11 is my best run, so it's possible...@ 8 right now.

Nope. I'm a fairly cynical type and I especially loath all 'professional' sports. And BASEBALL and FOOTBALL top my list of WTF? when I read about the hundreds of millions of $$$ spent to get a pro team to a certain city. <--- Some of it paid by tax payers.

Don't even get me started on pro sports.... These crybabies get paid millions to play a game then whine some more when they stub their toe and they sit on the sidelines. I'd love to be a damn benchwarmer for any pro team. Sit on my ass and make $100,000 a year.
Yeah, I get it...that's their livelyhood. If they get too hurt they won't play anymore.
Big fucking deal...if I get hurt too bad, I won't be able to work anymore either. Do you see me getting paid 6 and 7 digits a year? No.
And most of these guys are too fucking stupid to do anything else with their lives so why the hell should they get paid so damn much? They are NOT the cream of the crop nor are they outstanding citizens.

Like most Australian's a I'm touch sports mad. I'll follow pretty much anything. But growing up in country Queensland has made me a Rugby League fan. I went to State of Origin last week. Came home barely able to speak due to abuse levelled at New South Wales. Otherwise I watch a bit of Australian Football but not much. Really only care about Rugby once the World Cup comes around. Been watching a bit of the NBA playoffs and watched the post season of the NFL earlier this year. Fuck if it's on I'll even watch the tennis. Nothing like a few beers and some sport on in the background.

I'll watch and enjoy pretty much any sport except for AFL.
My entire British side of the family are Mancunians, so I'm a United supporter in the EPL. Also enjoy watching La Liga, Eredivisie and Bundesliga.
Most of my Aussie side of the family are Queenslanders (with the other few being Victorian), so I'm a Queensland supporter in the State of Origin series.
I live in the Roosters/Souths area, but I am a Wests Tigers supporter in the NRL (before that was a Magpies supporter before they merged teams as they were the closest team to me geographically).
My friends from Washington state have made me a Seahawks supporter (by proxy) in the NFL, even though I can't even name a single player on the team.
Brumbies supporter in the Super-15 rugby. Even if they suck.
Don't have a team in the NBA or NBL.
Big fan of the horse racing scene, albeit only for the ladies, gambling and the drinking.
I don't really get time to watch much sport these days with the exception of the big games. I do keep regular track of my favourite teams, though, and also take part in tipping competitions for a few of them at both of my workplaces.

Yah, I'm probably the only Atlanta fan around this heya site. Currently live in western NC and wish the Panthers would move to Canada......I wasn't surprised when they Thrashers got moved, happened once before with another Atlanta Hockey team. Anyway, Falcons, as bad as it's been being a fan of theirs, are my team, and with Julio Jones to compliment Roddy White things should go pretty well this year.
Hey everyone, remember one thing: You are as valuable as what someone is willing to pay you. If some billionaire owner wants to pay some Pro player a 7 digit salary who the hell are you to give them shit about it? Let's say your boss comes to you tomorrow and says "Jim, I feell you need a 50% increase in pay just because I know doing so will increase my overall revenue by 20%, what do you say to that?" You, deep down, know your slacking off and haven't done any real work for the guy in 5 years, but HE feels you're doing a bang up job....who's fault is that?
If your city/county/state pulls money from the tax payers for a Professional Team you should consider a change in governmental leaders. They (gubment) always say if we bring in a sports team money will roll in. They are wrong and I haven't seen any instance yet where that has been the case, usually they lose money on the XX million dollar stadium, no one likes the team, the team moves to another city, so on and so forth.

7 digit salary who the hell are you to give them shit about it?
True.
And exactly why I WANT pro ballers to juice up with every muscle building / speed making / pain killing drug on the planet.
A dude getting 50 million $$ for 5 years of contract better be goddamn bullet proof.
On the other hand ...
Pro ports teams get huge incentives to be located in certain cities, and put strains on services (fire/police/other EMS) during season times. This effects the local folks to some degree. So maybe local folks and business do have a place to say stuff about the local team.
I dunno .. I live in the woods, no teams here thanks @!!@

A lot of communities do have say in what happens with the sports team in the area. If anything needs to change (IE more night games w/ the Cubs) it has to pass referendum.
EDIT: At least that is my experience. I shouldn't speak for every city/team.
If some billionaire owner wants to pay some Pro player a 7 digit salary who the hell are you to give them shit about it?

This is why I hate pro sports. Some jerkass gets paid more in one game than I make in one whole year. Why? Because he's playing a game? I'm not even talking endorsement deals and shit. I'm talking getting handed a stack of cash just for putting on a uniform and showing up. Christ, I'd love to be a pro bench warmer. I'd be out of debt for life after about 2 years. So why do they get paid so much?
I seem to remember saying something like this before..
"But Slim, that's their livelihood! If they get hurt bad out there, then their careers are over!" Fuck that. I take more risk in my job every day than these jackasses do in any given year and the same idea applies to me. If I get hurt bad enough (and believe me, there have been some close calls) I'm out of a job and hell I could be crippled or die. I don't get a 6 figure income for it unless you count the numbers to the right of the decimal.
"Slim, they have like 10 or 15 years worth of good playing time in them and that's it!" Yeah. Their choice, too, isn't it?
Props to them all for being good at a game. Hooray for them. Modern day Gladiators. Actually, that would make me watch. Slaughter a member of the losing team live after the game and I'll grant that they deserve large paychecks.

Haven't grown out of this have ya? They have a god given talent to play whatever game it is they play. Just so happens someone decided to pay them a load of cash to do it. Stop referring to pro-sports as a game, as if it's only child's play, and think of it more of a business (like players and owners alike do). Players represent an investment. The larger the investment the greater the expectation of the return. When thought of in this light it is much easier to grasp the idea of one player getting paid 10 million per year (or whatever). Ever get infuriated that brain surgeons make so much money? They're as talented at their craft as pro sports players are at theirs.
Essentially they have massive talent at something you don't in which they get paid more than you'll see your whole life. Get over it.
I'll totally agree that they don't deserve further pensions or supported healthcare after the fact. Most of them had to obtain a college degree before reaching pro-sports. When they're done with their sports careers they need take out the huge platinum spoon crammed down in their mouths during that time, step off the pampered dream cloud, and use their degree (whatever that may be) and get a job like the rest of us to support them-god-damn-selves through the rest of their lives. OR pay to get an education (which is a pittance in comparison to what they've been paid) and get a degree worth using. Fuck pro athletes in that sense.

No, they are MORE talented and area actually DOING something, yet they don't make nearly as much. Like I said before, they're contributing more to a business than playing a game. They represent large investments of capital with the expectations of larger returns. But they will and routinely do that for pro type sports.
This tells me that the 50 million dollar contracts given out are but a pittance in total global sports revenue and as such those athletes are entitled to every damn dime of it.

NE is going to be hard to beat after last week. But it's been a long time since the Raiders played as well as they are playing this season.
Should be a good game.
This week the Vikings either win, or become the laughing stock of the NFL...if they are not it already.

This bad ass 11 year old athlete is so dominate on the field that his league chooses to enact a rule that effectively limits his destruction of other teams.
Now, were talking 11 year old sixth grade kids here where the goal is to develop as many good players as possible, learn the game mechanics and teach teamwork in hopes of polishing a GREAT player from the rough diamonds of youth, its just that this kid is such a natural that he is already outside that need. I see the rule as keeping within those goals and find it to be fair.
Any comments?

On the other hand he probably is laughing about it and will go on to be one hell of a pro athlete!

Its of course impossible to really tell one way or the other but is appears as if he has someone in his life keeping him grounded. Also, it seems as if the school is handling it properly and that it would likely not be an issue outside that district were it not for some asshat in a news center somewhere reading a wire report.
Further and as usual, it seems as if the media might be fishing for drama where there is none.
Still, it would be a welcome change to see a well grounded, intelligent, family and community oriented young person who just HAPPENS to be uber talented make it all the way to old age without some bozo hanger on or 'posse' member fucking up a good thing. or some trick ass skank screwing his life.
I for one want to leave this story with positive thoughts, and hope he gets only good things.

but is appears as if he has someone in his life keeping him grounded
Those are contradictions. By taking him out of the game, he is being elevated to a status of "I'm better than you, so much so that even the big guys at the top recognize it." Also, the "game mechanics and teach teamwork," does not get learned by this child if he is sitting on the bench some where. I'm sure this kid won't excel in college (if he makes it) and definitely not in the pros without the sound fundamentals that WOULD have been taught to him right now.

If anything, this Madre Hill rule will inspire the kid more, it's got to be an awesome feeling to be compared to football greats. (and the first kid to get the rule since Madre himself started it all.)
Besides, it's only for 5th and 6th grade ..next year he'll be in 7th and can score as much as he can. You can bet this will look good on his resume for later on.

I disagree. At least I disagree from the standpoint of the school administration. They have an obligation to be inclusive at least to a point. If he is allowed to score EVERY time he touches the ball as is being suggested by the video then the defense never gets a full workout, nor the offense nor do the special teams.

Don't let him touch the ball every down. Have him play defense. Let him come in every other series. Let him allow OTHERS on the team to score. That's the teamwork I'm talking about.

This tells me they are bringing in the rubes who ALL will be taking the points and betting Mich St. Staying away from it but big red should cover. I also think Washington will mop up Arizona.
On the pro scene one game jumps out at me..NO at Rams. NO crushed Indy 62-7. While the Rams lost 34-7 in Dallas last week. NO should be favored by at least 20 yet are only at 13.5.
Now if my rube theory holds any water take the Rams, they might not win it but it should be a close game as Vegas doesn't like giving out money.

Oakland has the best chance to move to 5-3 with a win over the donkeys although it's hard to beat a team 4 times in a row and with Mcfadden possibly out, I'd have to go with the 9 points..hope I'm wrong. I will say that certain teams seem to have the others number, such is the case with my two picks this week:
Miami over KC
Baltimore over Pittsburgh

I disagree with both. I also think GB will win huge over SD.
My upset pick is the Bears over Philly. While the Eagles are playing much better than before, they are still the same team fundamentally. Weak offense/defensive lines. Forte will have a monster day and we will keep Vick contained, possibly injure him again. All other games this week seem pretty tame. But I've been incredible wrong throughout this entire season so... whatever.

Also like the sun devils to pitchfork da bruins just like they did to USC.
USC is playing Friday btw @ Colorado :
Now after a game like last week, USC have got to be a little let down and going in to play a sucky team like Colorado should have them feeling better, I just hope they can actually get 'up' mentally for the game.
The Buffalo's on the other hand are coming home after being whacked with that pitchfork I mentioned earlier and before that got basically shut out at home against Oregon.
So where is the motivation for USC ? Colorado is just looking for their first conference win, that and to NOT be embarrassed AGAIN.
Do I see an upset ? No.
Do I see a closer game than the 22 points the oddsmakers have handed out ? You bet your honky ass I do.
Final score: USC 38 Col 27

Like this one which ended up USC 42 Col 17, I was close but no cigar...
USC surprised me as they showed no signs of let down from last week and even in that frozen hell hole, Matt Barkley threw for a new school record-6 TD passes.
However Col did have TWO chip shot FG attempts BLOCKED which would have had them within the spread.
Them is the breaks, so don't go putting down $$

Oakland @ San Diego
The Raiders are getting 7 points on the road and have two division losses in a row. The Chargers are coming off two losses as well (one division and one out of conference) and will be hungry to avenge the two losses they suffered last year by the silver and black.
Bad news for Oakland is Mcfadden is still out, yet they still should have beat the donkeys if the defense would have shown up. The last time the defense let a win get away was in Buffalo and the week following that the defense showed up big time and clobbered the red hot NY Jets.
Last week was SD's suberbowl as they played the best team in the NFL thus far..GB !! After giving a hell of a scare to the Packers they still came up short and have got to be a bit let down.
I say Norv Turner gets out coached by Hue Jackson in this one, and a tired offensive line for San Diego gets punished by a hungry Raider Defense and (hopefully) with some better judgment by the corners.
Let's also not forget Carson Palmer, who is only in his 2nd start and should look even better this week as more of the long off-season (retired) rust should be gone.
They say never bet with your heart and that's true, but with both teams at 4-4, it's not like SD is any better than last year, while the Raiders have improved minus Asamawhatevathefuck his name was that went to Philly. <---good to see him fuck up against da Bears Mon Night.
Should be a close game but I think we might see a surprise 10+ victory for Oakland !!
GO RAIDERS...Just Win Baby !

I think you are correct on this one. SD is playing red hot, but have not been able to finish. Rivers is still playing like poo-poo, too. But the biggest reason I think this will be a Raider victory: this is SD's 3rd game in 11 days (MNF --> Sunday --> Thursday).
So I'm checking the spreads for the upcoming week and have noticed a few funnies. Miami is -3.5 at home against Washington, Carolina is at home against Tennessee and is -2.5.
Anyways, here it goes:
NYG upends SF
Bears get revenge over Lions
Buffalo destroys Dallas
and finally, my upset pick, is Seattle over Baltimore.

MNF --> Sunday --> Thursday).
The Chargers have to be one tired team after that schedule.
I don't like their chances either.
I'm going to go way out on a limb here:
I don't like either teams chances to win this one....I don't know when the last tie in the NFL was....but I do believe the next one will be tonight, in a battle of field goals.

11-11-2011, 02:53 AM
Fuck Yeah !!
Raiders are Leading AFC west. Got to love all the breaks and non holding calls given to SD as that O-line had no chance at stopping Seymour, Wimbley, Houston and co without holding. True you could probably say that on every down of every NFL game, but this was obvious to even the SD media.
Palmer is getting slowly back to form and that interception was only due to being hit at the perfect time to alter the pass, as a Raider was open in the end zone. And that fumble (as he was about to pass) another perfect timing hit...neither one his fault.
I see back to back wins as they play Minn next week. Sorry Prop but the silver and black are getting back to glory, albeit slowly.
The Chargers are coming off two losses as well (one division and one out of conference)
Mistake..three losses (one division, TWO out of conference) now make it 2 and 2 !
BTW fuck you SD and all their fans :)
So I'm checking the spreads for the upcoming week and have noticed a few funnies. Miami is -3.5 at home against Washington, Carolina is at home against Tennessee and is -2.5.

What's funny about them?
Tennessee has played some great games this season and are still in a playoff hunt. Carolina (besides Newton and Steve Smith) has played like doo-doo.
Miami is awful... terribly awful. Granted Washington has been pretty bad, too, but their defense is certainly better. I think Washington wins by 7+.

Detroit @ Chicago..sometimes making the correct pick is as simple as looking at the team names and deciding which would win in a real life battle (not really but I'm lazy today) and in this case I think a lion would conquer a bear.

Indeed !!
Just wanted them to win one before the Raiders head out, knew better but I'll take an off week 0-2.
Oakland opened up getting a point on the road in Minn. I'll take that but shouldn't need it as the Raiders should win this one if they're to be taken serious as a legitimate playoff team.
Thurs Night: NY Jets @ Denver..Jets are favored by 4.5 and should cover on the road as I just can't see Denver's offense keeping up.
Sun: Don't really see much interesting but my upset lock would have to be SD over Chicago, the Chargers are getting 3.5 on the road and have lost 4 in a row. This is a must win and I don't see them losing 5 in a row...but I wouldn't mind if they did.
Dallas (-9) is at Washington and should cover easy right ? Doubt that, I'm taking the 9 and although the Cowboys will probably win...it won't be by more than a TD.
Seattle @ Rams : Not sure how the Rams will fuck this up but they will. Taking Seattle.
Wow, Buffalo sure has went downhill fast...even a 1 point dog in Miami this week. Bills should get healthy on some fish and win easily.

I know it sounds really worthless to say, but the Bears game can go in any possible direction. The Bears could implode and the Chargers could find their talent and it would be a blow out Chargers win. On the other hand, if the Chargers and Bears play the way they have been lately, it will be a Bears blow out. OOOOOOR it can be anything in between. I'm looking for a Bears win, though, since so many Chargers are out and Rivers is a bitch.

Aw, the luck was on the other side and ruined a perfect three pick..it was awesome to see ucl g(a)y get their shit pushed in. See ya in the NFL Matt, there is no way in this economy he will be back next year at USC. It's a business decision that's not hard to make, play for free with a bunch of IF's and lose out on one year of top NFL salary or start getting paid..duh, it's a no brainer and I think some teams might take him ahead of Luck who didn't beat ND like a man on a mission to wrap up the Heisman. Plus he's white which carries a low jokemarcus russle (I'll just take the money and not give it my all cause I'm nothing but a lazy/stupid nigger) factor.
This whole Sun schedule and Mon night scare me, I can see every game going either way and like the points in almost every match-up. I really have a weird feeling that KC will upset Pitt or at the very least will not lose by much. I'm also worried that without McFaddon the Raiders may be in trouble, but I'll stick with them to win this one ugly. Did anyone else notice the Denver D kick the shit outta NY Jets ? I thought SD would get a win last week but after 5 losses in a row they come home to face the upstart donkeys, doubt they will cover but I'm betting they don't lose 6 in a row. I also thought Buff would wake up and smell the fish..nope they're sleeping with the fish, not getting fooled with the points this week..9.5 is waaay high though for a beat up Jets squad to cover, or is it? I'd put the cash on NY. Let's not forget the shit bowl.......
AZ @ Stl ::drum roll:: and the winner is : Rams by a fart.
Mon night I'll take the G-men only because thier defense is better, won't lose three in a row and NO is due for a home loss. Forget the 7.5 points you won't need 'em...typical vegas mindfuck, you could probably do the reverse tease and get NO plus the 7.5 and put down your bank account and still lose. Put the bank on NY.

Look at the line moves, it gradually went to nine then fell hard back to 7 ..evidently more money was on the Giants in this one. If it hadn't fell and say even increased to 10 or so I still say NY would have won. Funny how that can happen when $$ is on the line. You really think this same team (NO) actually lost to the Rams by chance ? Hells no !

I don't have a clue what your numbers game here means.
I know it has something to do with gambling...and little to do with the sport itself.
The way I understand football, or any other game for that matter, is that who ever has the most points at the end wins...if by 1 or by 21..
I can't say much more about this, because(as I said)I don't have a clue what the number game you have listed here means...except that you can win and still lose..and you can lose and still win..
Goes against the laws of physics.
Educate me if you can.

It's about picking against a spread. It would be too easy to bet each week if you could just say the Packers are going to beat the Rams or something. So the spread (usually) goes with the home team, either +/- to points. For example, the Monday night game, San Diego @ Jacksonville has Jacksonville +1.5. This means that Jacksonville is essentially given an extra 1.5 points at the end of the game (for betting purposes only, of course). So, if the score ends up Chargers 21 - Jaguars 20, the Chargers win the game, but people who bet on them would have lost. It works the opposite way for the -. The reason it has half points is to avoid ties (IE if it was -1 for the spread and the score was Chargers 21 - Jaguars 20 again, no one would win.)
The other number is the over/under for points scored. That one is pretty self-explanatory.
Okay, so the meat and potatoes: my first legit picks in two weeks.
Thursday night has been upset city, so I am picking the Seahawks at home against the lowly Eagles.
The Bears bounce back to crush the Chiefs by 15+.
The Ravens falter against the Browns.
Finally, the Pack make the Giants look worse than NO did last night.

I have the Eagles over the Seahawks
I would like to watch the Vikings win one this week...but I don't think I will. The Broncos should have no trouble defeating the Vikings.
The Dolphins fall to the Raiders.
Bears over Chiefs.
The Packers will destroy the Giants.
Lions go down hard to the Saints.

The Broncos should have no trouble defeating the Vikings. I don't know about this, it just seems too easy. Den + 1 is def the public pic but I think you'll have a nice surprise come Sun. Did you see the Thurs night halftime talk between Kurt Warner and McNabb ? I think this guy will do good if Ponder stalls..he seems READY to win again.
Btw...after last nights loss, the Eagles play just might of sealed Andy Reids fate ! It was a 'fun' chippy game to watch though.

I saw the game but skipped the pre game and half time shows. I am damn sick and tired of watching the prima-donnas who man those shows act like they are the fucking stars and main attraction instead of the game. Waiting for them to tell me something useful and/or entertaining takes longer than talking John Madden into getting on a plane.
I have always thought that McNab and Reid were extremely overrated.

So Oakland is going to Green Bay and the NFL hasn't ruled on Seymour yet, he may have to sit this one out due to a suspension for a hit in the Miami game. Mcfaddon is still listed as doubtful which is the same as the Raiders chances in this one.
GB is taking a sigh of relief after almost falling in NY.
Let's look at some numbers..the Pack is 12-0 while Oak is 7-5
Last five games against GB ? Oak is 0-5
Go back to 6th matchup was 1987 when Oak went into GB and came out with a 20-0 shut-out of the cheese men. That was when Bo Jackson was in the house, which Mcfadden reminds me of with that over powering prensence.
I had a bad feeling last week and I really think a healthy team would give GB problems. I see Carson showing up Sunday ready to stick to Hue's game plan. Also, GB's defense looked suspect and you know Oak is going over the game film for that NY showing. I like the fact it's week 13 which goes well for Oakland, also they're due to win while GB is due to lose. I have a good feeling this week that it all comes together for the silver and black, as the defense steps up and makes life hard for Rodgers. Personally a loss would be good for GB as the unbeaten factor would be gone and they can focus on the playoffs instead of a streak.
I like Oakland to win it after coming off a loss and getting a chance for redemption on the beat up Packers who will be hard pressed to give it their all when they know the playoffs are already in hand. Plus the way Denver has bounced back, it's a must win to keep pace if Oak wants to win the AFC division..which will probably be needed to get into the playoffs.

Dang. Pretty bold prediction man!
I think this weeks matchups are insanely difficult. There are a lot that can go either way.
Notably, I'm going to pick the Browns over Pitt tonight, as Thursday Night Football is upset city.
Houston over Cinci -- this is a tough one. Houston has been devastated by injuries, but TJ Yates played OK and they still have the best run game and defense in the league.
Vikings are going to beat the Lions. The Lions are imploding and it is not like the Vikings are pathetically a 2 win team... in a way, they are still some-what respectable.
Miami over Philly, since Miami is still playing hot like fire.
My other upset is Carolina over Atlanta, to help the Bears' playoff chances.
On another note, though it DOES deal with this weeks picks, I predict the Broncos will not win another game. They will suffer a crushing defeat this week against the Bears and Bronco-Nation will have to get off Tebow's schlong.

Fucking Moore better play as Palmer NEEDS someone to throw to who can r.a.c. also SADLY it looks as if McFadden is out so Bush needs an epic day. Seymour gets to play but hurt his knee in practice, all is not lost if #99 gets going. A key to this game is long time possesion drives, if Oak can't do that then they lose, however I believe they CAN against this defense but they still NEED to take their time or it's over.
I also like Houston over Cinci and SF over AZ big, spread is only 3.5 ! Dallas falls @ home to NY and there is no hope for the Rams on MNF

Bears rb would have stayed in bounds
Yuck. I was furious when that happened. I cannot believe we lost that game. I, furthermore, cannot believe people credit Tebow with that win. He was POOP before the last two drives. For WHATEVER reason, the Bears were playing their Cover-2 extremely deep. Safeties were 20 yards at snap and dropping and the linebackers were 10 yards and THEY dropped back at snap. Hence, easy completions to the middle of the field.
Anyways, this week. Falcons handle the Jags, Raiders over the Lions, Cardinals over Browns, and Steelers over 49ers.

The donkey pick is for jinx purposes and I'm going to the Sun night game as my girl likes the Ravens so thought I'd jinx SD while I'm at it. Should be a good game, with the bolts sucking so much I got some season ticket holder's seats on the field level for 160.00, not bad but I don't see this game going over 45 points, if the camera pans over us, I'll be the dude flipping it off. Maybe I should wear my Raider shirt ?!

For some strange reason, I see SD waking up and scoring tons of points this week. Not necessarily winning the game, but I certainly would pick the over on that game.
Also, maybe Prop died because his Vikings are playing like poo-poo.

Thanks Z...
I work with emotionally disturbed kids.
Lots and lots of extra overtime this time of year.
Some go home for the holidays, most don't have anything to go home to.
Most of the staff here will soon be on holiday themselves...
I, on the other hand, will be working even longer hours.
I'm not complaining...just saying.
I enjoy my job for the most part.
Saints over the poo-poo Vikings...
Now there is a risky prediction.

I'm going with the Steelers over the 49ers, and the Broncos over the Patriots.
Also... Raiders over the Lions, and Bears over Seahawks.
After further consideration I'm changing my pick on the Saints vs Vikings game.
I believe the Vikings will upset the Saints at home in the dome.

Why not, the sucky Rams did it. However they were determined to win one game at the time.
All LA is talking about is the fucking Clippers and how great they are now..still no championships. That and how Kobe is now fucked, he's worth an est 348 million and with no pre-nop, his wife is entitled half !! That bitch probably knew she was going to dump his cheating ass ten years ago..fucking $$$$ smart !

Worst week I've had this year..KC, um..really??
I see SD waking up and scoring tons of points this week
That they did, got to see alot of fireworks. Nice call.
MNF Pitt +3 seems odd, the way this week went SF will win by 20. I'll still take the Steelers.

SF will win by 20.
Should've stayed with this one. This was a weird fucking week, I only had 5 right against the spread. I'm awful.
Also, did you see that Johnny Knox hit? That was ridiculous and I thought for sure he was going to die.

Worst week I've had this year..
I don't think any of my predictions for this week came to be.
I was thinking about picking an upset in that Packers game. Changed my mind. Should have went with my instincts I guess..bummer. On the other hand, I'm glad as hell that the only team to go undefeated through the season, playoffs and super bowl is still the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Not that I'm a Dolphins fan or anything.. Just very much dislike the Packers.
This was a weird fucking week,
It was a strange week.
That Knox hit was wicked.
Did you guys see any of the Steelers game?
The way Roethlisberger was limping around reminded me of Billy Kilmer late in his career. Only Kilmer was more effective with the one leg dance than big Ben.

I like Oakland over KC this week, should be a good close game. I also like the way Seattle is playing..they will beat SF @ home.
Zeabot
12-22-2011, 10:20 AM
Seattle has been playing really well... I thought they could have a big year, except for Tavaris Jackson at QB. I mean, really? That guy?
Anyways, I'll do not think that the Ravens will cover against Cleveland, though they SHOULD win. Dallas will be the Eagles. And, finally, I have NO winning 467981 -10 against the Falcons.

Yes !! The donkeys lost. If Oak and Den both win or lose next week they will have same record, so why would Den win the AFC west title over Oak ?? Funny that Oak could lose out again, last year they won EVERY division game and still didn't get recognized as the best in the west.
GB will probably cover the 11+ after that shocking loss last week.
Det and SF surprised me with wins ..lol @ Chargers..hope they play like that next week in Oakland.

Adious Oakland, get some db's in the offseason...fuck !!
Playoffs are here...1st rd : Pitt, Atl, Houston and NO will move on.
SB winner will be Balt Ravens over the Packers, not a doubt in my mind.
Zeabot
01-07-2012, 12:35 PM
Pretty bold. I think you're spot on with the first round winners, but it will be interesting in the second round.
If these predictions hold true, NE will play Pittsburgh and Baltimore will play Houston. The only first round game I have hesitation with is Houston over Cinci. IF Cinci can beat Houston, then NE plays Cinci and Pitt plays Baltimore. Much more unpredictable that way.
The NFC is a little more in control. I believe GB will destroy ATL and NO will beat the 49ers.
So, the important part, who makes it to the superbowl and who wins. New Orleans upsets the Pack in Lambo. I like the Ravens, but Flacco is not a superbowl caliber QB and this is a passing league, so I am going to go with New England. New Orleans wins the SB in a crazy shoot out.

No one give the Giants a chance but being a die hard Giants fan, I had faith in my team. NY Rangers are looking good, Knicks are playing ok but my Mets are going to be terrible. So 3 out of my 4 teams are doing good, so I am happy.

Good for them for picking it up in the playoffs! No, I understand they didn't play so good in the regular season but they play the good teams hard except the Saints. I like that they talked trash all playoffs and backed it up. I am NOT saying they are going to repeat but with all the injured players coming back next season, I think they will be a threat to make some noise next season.

Definitely. They need to improve in the running game and maybe add another young defensive lineman. That pass rush is pretty much the reason they are winning.

That pass rush is pretty much the reason they are winning.I agreed with the running game defensive linemen I don't agree with, they have a beast in a DT that got injured in preseason. They need to improve their secondary, linebackers and a decent TE. I hope Osi stays, he and JPP was one of the reason why they make it to the Super Bowl.

NHL Playoffs start this week and the LA Kings (who could have won their division but lost the last two games of season to SJ Sharks) make the cut for the third straight year.. 09-10 finished 8th and lost to Van 4 games to two..10-11 finished 7th and lost again in 1st rd to SJ 4 games to 2.. now the 11-12 season they finish 8th and have to play Vancouver again..
I say this is the year that the fink (Kings) beat the stomach -meatballs
Kings in a wild 7 to get to the 2nd round and play ??
...Let the games begin (Wed in Van 7:30 pacific time)
In the east the Phil-Pitt matchup looks interesting, also got defending champs Boston back but I'd like to see an LA-NY Stanley Cup Matchup so I'll go with the Rangers in the east.

Hawks did exactly what they needed to do, finishing 6th. I didn't want to see the Preds in the first round and I am definitely okay with Phoenix.
I think in the west, the Preds will be really hard to beat, but shitty little teams rarely win in the NHL, so I am going with the Hawks. They have been playing pretty well lately and are getting a few key guys back from injuries just in time.
In the east, it is hard to pick against Boston. But damn, the east is so tight it is crazy.

the Hawks
I was at a La vs Chicago game a few years ago and still remember this odd looking fan with a point nose yelling "go hawks" and now it's a joke whenever I get around some of my old hockey buddies...remember the guy with the beak tapping on the glass...go hawks.
If the Kings can get by the Canucks, I'd love to play Sutter's old team, then again if the Kings get to the second round..I think they can go all the way to the cup.

Quick is on fire, not sure I want the sweep though, as a lay off could kill the playoff momentum they got right now. Then again I don't want Van to think they have a chance of coming back...close 'em asap !!!
