That GW is, to this day, ridiculed for poor response time to Katrina (which was actually less than 24 hours), yet in the wake of the deadliest tornado in sixty years, Obama is playing ping pong in Europe and isn't expected at ground zero for a solid week.
How is it that this idiot has been president for nearly 3 years and hasn't done a goddamned thing except vacation and nobody has said anything?!

I seriously think it is because so many in media and in industry want to have the 'epic' that was the 1st Black dude as prez to be a remembered or at least a documented remembrance of a success.
Hell, I personally want him to do well, what sane person would want their own president to suck so much ass?
I dunno ... I gave up on presidential politics in the mid 90's with the Clinton drama llama. I honestly care more for my county's Tax commissioner election than I do for a presidential election.

That's probably because you have more say in your tax commissioner.
However, I think GW's entire presidency was a massive joke and his lack of response during Katrina was just another punch line. It was more that when he was told about it, he simply sat there stunned for quite some time while being recorded without doing a damn thing. Katrina was also pretty centralized....This tornado season has been epically bad already and it's not just one area that needs help...

I don't see why he has to drop everything he's doing, especially if it's a beer in hand, and race back home when he's got a full staff of people, including a vice prez to look after things.
He's got the best communication devices in the world, so he can carry on with what he is doing and still 'phone home'.
I believe G8 is coming up.

The answer is simple.
Black people expect others to solve their problems. "Others" are white government officials. The media loves the poor black man and fights to put a camera and a mic in front of them and weap listening to the stories about why they can't buy crack anymore.
White people are self sufficient and seek help when help is available. If they did complain that it was the president's fault, they would be blaming a black man, which would be racist.
(I'm a sucker for arguing nonsensical racist viewpoints and generic political complaining)

I honestly don't either. My point wasn't that he SHOULD, but rather the double-standard being set. I agree that he has an entire staff to handle this sort of event. Group of 8 is pressing.
But honestly, GW's entire presidency was under the microscope, yet the whole of Obama's nobody seems to give a shit about, either way. The guy gets away with murder and it pisses me off.
This tornado season has been epically bad already and it's not just one area that needs help
I'm speaking in terms of Joplin. Granted, it's no Katrina. But it's still of monumental importance.

Still, he should have been there in person immediately, if for no other reason, to show his support for the people that went through this disaster.
The man has done nothing since being elected.
I did not like GW, and I don't like this "President" even more.
I think he should be impeached for having too much fun.

The man has done nothing since being elected.
I call BS.
Short list:
1. Saved the collapse of the American automotive industry by making GM restructure before bailing them out, and putting incentive money to help the industry
2. Shifted the focus of the war from Iraq to Afghanistan, and putting the emphasis on reducing terrorism where it should have been all along
3. Relaxed Anti-American tensions throughout the world
4. Signed order to close the prisoner “torture camp” at Guantanamo Bay
5. Has made the environment a national priority, and a primary source for job creation
6. Has made education a national priority by putting emphasis and money behind new ideas like charter schools, but speaking directly to school children in telling them they have to do their part.
7. Won the Nobel Peace Prize
8. $789 billion economic stimulus plan
9. Appointment of first Latina to the Supreme Court
10. Attractive tax write-offs for those who buy hybrid automobiles
11. Authorized construction/opening of additional health centers to care for veterans
12. Renewed dialogue with NATO and other allies and partners on strategic issues.
13. Beginning the process of reforming and restructuring the military 20 years after the Cold War to a more modern fighting force… this includes new procurement policies, increasing size of military, new technology and cyber units and operations, etc.
14. Better body armor is now being provided to our troops
15. “Cash for clunkers” program offers vouchers to trade in fuel inefficient, polluting old cars for new cars; stimulates auto sales
16. Changed the failing/status quo military command in Afghanistan
17. Closed offshore tax safe havens
18. Deployed additional troops to Afghanistan
19. Ended media “blackout” on war casualties; reporting full information
20. Ended previous policy of awarding no-bid defense contracts
21. . Ended media blackout on war casualties and the return of fallen soldiers to Dover AFB.
22. Ended previous policy of cutting the FDA and circumventing FDA rules
23. Ended previous practice of forbidding Medicare from negotiating with drug manufacturers for cheaper drugs; the federal government is now realizing hundreds of millions in savings
24. Ended previous practice of having White House aides rewrite scientific and environmental rules, regulations, and reports
25. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has created 2.1 million jobs (as of 12/31/09).
26. Ended previous policy of not regulating and labeling carbon dioxide emissions

Thanks for the laugh Slim. You might want to reread your post and maybe research some of your "facts". Just a couple of examples? Gitmo detention center remains open. His educational reform is laughable in that he is giving money to welfare moms to go to diploma mill colleges that are just going to make them further in debt and still unemployable. Cash for clunkers and his economic stimulus plan were both jokes. Cash for clunkers was not his idea, it was the auto industry, specifically the United Auto Workers Union that drafted that little piece of idiocy, Barry just rubber stamped it. The money spent bailing out GM and the banks would have been better invested in doing a few simple things like granting those with less than ten years on their mortgages amnesty from the debt, forcing the credit card companies to accept a unilateral interest rate (as banks are required to do), etc, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Barry hater. He promised things he couldn't deliver like every other president.

I see it this way... I didn't vote for him. I haven't voted for a president since I actually noticed that nobody has ever actually voted for a president. Once they get rid of the electoral college, then we can have a democracy. Until then, this is a republic and the country is run by someone who is not a direct representative of the popular opinion. Ever. He doesn't answer to you or me. He doesn't owe us a damn thing in the way of keeping his promises... Hell, he doesn't HAVE to make us happy one bit. He can just sit there and rubber stamp every damn thing that comes across his desk from day one.
The office is a joke as it stands. We haven't had a strong president since Clinton. I don't give a fuck if you are a republican or a democrat, "YOUR" president was picked by a minority. It's no wonder most other countries think we are fucking retarded....

It seems that after Fire's post, there is not much more to say about his accomplishments (or lack of).
Although, I do appreciate the differing opinions.
I agree with you about the electoral college. It's an unfair system that needs to go.
I believe most of the "big wigs" controlling the Republican party right now belong in an insane asylum.
The Democrats had control of congress and the Presidency for 2 years and accomplished nothing. They are too weak to govern.
The sad reality is that most politicians start campaigning for the next election as soon as they take office. "To hell with the people who elected them".
I don't even expect them to do their jobs anymore.

I know....but I was feelin more of a rant about the office than the man. Seems to me that Obama is one to get shit done and not make a giant fuss about it. I like that. Works for me. I don't need a prez who spends half his time telling us how wonderful he is.
GW was a moron....plain and simple. He graduated with honors and senile dementia kicked in somewhere along the way cuz he turned into the "special kid" that everyone had in class that ate paste in kindergarten.
Clinton turned shit on its ear.... Managed a budget surplus for the first time in a long while, then GW turned around and not only spent through that but managed to go back into the negatives. NOW we are looking at defaulting on our loans and sending the country into bankruptcy..... Classic.

The big bad Republicans. They were(pretty much still are) the Democrat's Boogie man, Monster under the bed, and Creature hiding in the closet.
And during those two years, the Republicans, much like those beasts I mentioned, had no more power than the Democrat's imagination let them have.

NOW we are looking at defaulting on our loans and sending the country into bankruptcy
Point the finger in the right direction here, bub.
The reason our country is fiscal recession and loans are being defaulted on is as a result of nothing less than bankers handing out loans to anyone with a fuckin pulse and a checking account twelve or thirteen years ago. When the mortgage industry collapsed a few years back, the banks then tightened their noose -in an almost immediate fashion- to interject as much damage control as possible (a slither worthy of a fuckin snake). Suddenly, it was mandatory that one must possess a pristine credit rating and a fucking gold mine to even be considered for a loan. So the banks started to crumble under the pressure to have more stringent loan conditions. So what happens next? The banks beg the government for hand-outs to clean up the mess they made. And Obama, in typical Democratic fasion, dumped boat loads of federal funds on them (at our expense), but it was the equivalent of putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.
Between the bank bailouts, the auto industry bailouts, and "Cash for Clunkers" (all EPIC failures), this guy has blown our tax dollars like a fuckin debutante with a limitless credit line.
Wake the fuck up.
