Greetings and splendiferous salutations to your forum.

On the advice of Kommiekat, I choose to write in this section. I've glanced into this place from time to time, due to my affiliation with the soon-to-be-defunct fuckyou.com receiving a series of adverts from Goddamn Prick. He's a pip.

I bet it's easy to ascertain why I'm here, given my previous statement. It seems like several fy'ers have migrated here over the years, so I'd rather be in good company than revert to non-forum life. Of course, I recommended that others from the dying FY site come over here in order to keep from extinguishing the bonds that were developed. Everything's en flambe over there, so to speak. Should there be - ah - less-than-quality noobs that follow, do accept my apologies in advance.

So: about me. I'm an artist, musician and generally right-brained being by nature. That's not to say that I don't relish in strategy and logic, but being as connected as I am with my emotions affords me the pragmatic choice to concentrate on what I most love in life. I enjoy the outdoors, reading, philosophy, finance, and discussing social behaviors, among millions of other things. I've had about every job type you could have in my years on Earth, and I've finally settled down and become an artist in order to avoid having to answer to a singular 'boss' type. It's been a success so far, and I'll continue plugging away on portraiture and commissions until I've made a broader name for myself. So far, so good. I've recently-ish moved to upstate NY, my state of origin, from the oddly landscaped parish of Tucson. It's a good life that's afforded me the opportunities that I've had, so I have to say I'm pretty laid back as a result.

Well, that's about it. Feel free to ask me about my art, thoughts on pretty much anything, or to assist you in poking fun at anyone. I'm in it for the long haul, and you guys have a good thing going here. Bring on the amusing discussions. I'm all eyes.

Well, welcome. Here you are only responsible for your own actions. The undesirables that may migrate here are not yours to apologize for. Thankfully the motto of this site, "Leave your stupidity at the door" is in full force and the members here have shown themselves to be rather cohesive about it staying that way.

My wife is into the moment, Tole painting.
That's the painting done on wood and this style is way beyond the
"Welcome" wood plates that you see hanging outside mobile homes.

You have any familiarity with this form?
(quite popular in Asia now for some reason)

As an artist, she has moved from one medium to another including:
Pixel
Oil
Water
Pencil
Animation/cartoons
Miniature

At 42, she's just finished an art program at the University and now she fly's to Taiwan to get certified in Tole.

Folks - sincere thanks for the welcome.

Slim - Good to hear they'll be diligent about keeping the good folk here. So far, so good as far as I can tell.

Cranium - Oy! :D

Mamba - When I was new to fy.com, I crossed by a few of your posts. You seem just as cool, if not cooler. Gratitude.

Kommie - I've used all those forms you've mentioned (with the exception of miniature), and even dabbled with metal, collage, printmaking, sculpting, and woodworking. I'm about to delve in to a small carving project in the coming weeks for a client. We'll see how it turns out.

With all the possible art forms out there these days, I had to Google Tole painting, to be honest. But I've done it here and there and not known what it was called. I have been known to dabble in shit that I don't have any real training in, just for the pure whim of it. I've painted tables, frames, clocks, and a bunch of other already-existing objects from time to time. It's a good life that allows you the creativity, resources and courage to do things at the spur of the moment. If your wifey has any online resources to pass over to me, I'd be much obliged for the learning opportunity.

Cheers, all.
