I have several Christian friends who loooove to post bible quotes or who (as of today) post stuff slamming other holy books like the Koran.

This was my post today:

Anybody who has a book as the center of their religion which proclaims incest, rape, human sacrifice, genocide, infanticide, and outright murder in the name of their god as something to be celebrated and revered needs to be shot. Comment if you agree!

I wonder how many of my religious friends will realize that their very own holy book does this..... lets find out.

Already have a Christian friend texting me asking what book I'm talking about. I tried to be vague, wanting her to post, but she asked for examples...*sigh*...oh well..

yeah. . I hear ya. They have absolutely no clue what their own book has in it or who put it there. I had a conversation with a bible thumper a few months ago. She asked me what I believed in since she was making some case for her life being all scripture like and shit and I tried to contradict her.

I said. .well. . .I've looked at several religions and several forms of Christianity and what I took from it is that pretty much God is love. So I can say that I believe there is a higher power and I think he's based in love. But as far as the things in say the bible I don't think they can be literal or they actually factually happened like written.

Then I got his long lecture about "why do I think I can just pick and choose what I want to believe from religions, and I'm going to hell, etc, etc." I finally shut her up when I told her to examine her own religion, see how the bible has change in verbiage over the years and then dropped a bomb on her when I proved to her from her own catholic teaching that their are books of disciples that were left out of the bible because they were confusing or contradicted other disciple's teachings. I said. . .well. . looks like your religion picked and choose what it wanted to believe so you're all going to hell.

I was waiting for that, Funnee. Unfortunately (or rather, fortunately, all things considered) the people who replied on facebook actually have a clue. The text message chick didn't say a damn thing about it after I told her the bible was one of those books. Just went off on a tangent for a minute.

I'm tempted to delete all the comments and start over...Bah fuckit, I'll see where it goes.

I had a similar discussion with a Baptist on my last day in Anchorage. He insisted on trying to sell me on his mumbo jumbo. I asked him how he reconciles the contradictions, since he was adamant that he not only read the whole bible but believed in the whole thing.

Hilarity ensued.

I've probably said it before, but it seems like the more into religion someone is, the more spun they are. And it seems like just about every religion too.

BTW, there is an accountant that used to do work for a place my wife, & her daughter in law worked at. Now we do work for them. This old guy always leaves big white envelopes for the daughter in law, since they no longer have contact, and wants us to give them to her.

We always assumed they were religious crap, especially since she would tell us to just throw them away.

One day we opened one, and it wasn't religion. It was worse. He can no longer contact her by email, so he prints all the stupid crap he would normally forward to her, and wants us to hand deliver it.

There is a music BB I post at, and there was a dumb thing about a festival, where Iron Maiden played before a shitting has been band called "Stryper," and this goof was saying Iron Maiden open for them, which is a joke.. Maiden sucks too, but they are a hell of a lot bigger.

so this guy takes offense, and starts going after people laughing at him, and he's like that little bitch 4nik8 and tries to drag in as many of his little friends to help him as he can. There was a sort of swinger BB kind of connected to another board I posted at, so I went there and picked a profile of a short, fat, naked "biker," sitting on his hog, in front of his singlewide, wearing nothing but a leather vest, and told them I was him, and linked to the profile.

sure enough, a bunch of overly religious, finger pointing internet goons started feuding with them. It was funny as hell to watch.

The "Christians you're aiming at are reading the New Testament, which is almost absent of all the gory stuff you mentioned as opposed to the Old Testament, which is the Jewish Torah.

Why would these people your scoffing at be reading the Torah when they are Christians? THAT'S why you're not getting the response you hoped for.

And those Christians seem to love quoting Old Testament stuff when it suits their needs. They wanna pick and choose which passages they believe and which are irrelevant when the whole book is "God's word" and the SAY that they believe in the entirety.

It reads to me like the Old Testament has Gods (yes, plural) and they don't all get along but they have the same general idea. The new testament seems to be AFTER those Gods beat each other senseless and the Hippie God was the only one left standing.
