I've been using several analytical tools to monitor the forums visitation rate, referral rate and a host of other rates and thingies ...

The tools do not paint a pretty picture.

So, since the tools I have used seem to be foretelling a dismal future and a single digit regular posting member base ( we almost have that now ) I have decided to stop spending all my time and money on the back end of the forum and to start acting like a regular posting member again.

I'm not going to add any more tools or widgits to the forum unless I intend to personally use them, don't take it so hard .. its not like any of you use the :

1. Blogs

2. Albums

3. Media Library

4. Social groups

5. Arcade

6. etc etc etc ...

7. ???

^^ All of those things were added so that we all would have a more robust experience, an experience beyond a simple post and reply forum.

But .. the forum statistics say that no one here really gives a shit about anything more than a place to type and a button to push that makes words go to a certain place on the screen. ( I know this for a FACT because each page on this forum has been collecting stats ...)

I'm also going to change the color scheme of the joint .. yes again.

Anyway ... there ya have it.

This depresses me... sort of.

It is hard to maintain a forum that doesn't have a specific purpose, for example a game forum will constantly attract new members effortlessly because of the central purpose, whereas this is used for nothing but chatting.

I can see the effort you are putting in... but you need a long term plan on how to attract new members. Because even with all the gadgets you have, if nobody is talking when new members visit they wont be here too long. FY is infinitely worse than this forum - yet it has more members. Go onto other forums, send private messages to regular posters you like, and ask if they would join your forum..

I want to see you more like this:

100% true. But I knew this going in and was willing then to accept the consequence of a low member base. But now .... ehh ... I'm looking to change a bit.

We've all known each other for awhile and that leads to nothing new to say. .... new dudes breath new life into a joint.

I am unhappy a bit yep ...

I take it personally in my real life when the things I do turn out less than expected, I've always been my harshest critic and most vocal heckler.

The forum is doing poorly and regardless of real reason it boils down to "Gary's failure".

Once my exams are over (30 June)... I might try and help you out market SC to FY members/ other forums I am a member of.

Sounds like a plan. Sit back and observe. Sit back and join in.

Go to other forums and see what they are doing to increase their member base.

I still think you need to clearly make a distinction between Green and Red zones.
There really is not much difference between the two.

Maybe more sub forums? Maybe not just a forum that specializes but a forum that encompasses lots and lots of topic sub forums?? Perhaps?

Go to other forums and see what they are doing to increase their member base.

I've done that ... for the last 3 years I've joined over a hundred, and have semi-regular postings at 20 or so.

Like Wenis said .. Theme based forums have the best member activity, Porn based forums gets members to JOIN but does NOTHING to get them posting.

I'm not going to turn this place in to a theme specific forum .... BUT I plan to do some things that are personally important to me, such as moving my anti breeder rants to the article section on the front page. I have some other things that I'll post mainly from an editorial stand point.

I still think you need to clearly make a distinction between Green and Red zones.
There really is not much difference between the two.... add sub forums etc etc ... Why does that even matter when there are less than 1 new post per day on a monthly average? If people will not post in 20 different subforums why would they suddenly start posting if the number were 2000 different subforums?

The distinction between the Green and the Red zone is as clear as crystal, always has been.

Because people would post in sub-forums that they are interested in that has yet to be created?

If you had checked out hundreds of forums, then maybe you had noticed what people are interested in.

The distinction between the Green and the Red zone is as clear as crystal, always has been.

I disagree with you. I can simply make the Red into Green by using DNH tags and it has been done. Why would someone doing that, not post in the Green in the first place?

Why Green? Why not Purple? Why Red? Why not Blue? These colors mean nothing. I see no psychological purpose to it. There is nothing for me to associate it to. Maybe something related to your military career?

I bet if you made a poll, the unclarity would be clear.
But not to worry, I expect nothing.

Just to you. Makes perfect sense to me.
Reality and serious subjects (on topic posts please) vs general topics (meander as you see fit)

See how easy that is?

^^^ That...considering that's basically WHAT THE SUBTITLES SAY....

So I guess hundreds of people who check the place out who have no military experience are going to understand that?
Sorry, but "Green" and "Red" are not eye catching.

^^^ That...considering that's basically WHAT THE SUBTITLES SAY....

Then why not leave out the words Green and Red with only the subtitles remaining?
The Titles of the threads should be very clear with subs as a reinforcement.
To you and I, we are accustomed to the site and it's workings. To the person passing by, well, they'll just keep on passing by.
Not enough Eye Candy to keep the interest nor perk someone's curiosity.

Neither of you explained the difference of putting a DNH tag in the Red zone which thus, creates a Green zone topic.
Maybe makes sense to you, but not to me.
Both of you..............have failed.

Green and Red are just words and I HIGHLY doubt that a dude logs in here, catches a glimpse of the RED or GREEN and runs away screaming.

You = buffoon.

Call me what you want, I'm not the one with a low membership count, complaining about it to the only people who do post whilst at the same time, doesn't put up a poll nor questionnaire trying to get answers from his loyal members............

I'm a big fan of information sharing. I apologize if it appears on screen as whining and toe sucking.

Clearly I'm a failure at this venture and will humbly submit myself to any and all ideas.

Thank you for your valuable input.

You're right.

You're the guy WITHOUT a site, without personal experience of running a site, making absurd statements concerning "loopholes" (ie DNH tags) and whose only claim to fame is being the whipping boy of all sites (that I've seen you on) joined.
Making sub forums of forums that hardly get play don't seem like an idea that'll gain membership.

Where's the draw of seeing countless sub forums with zero threads?
This sites problem (of draw) has already been mentioned.
It's not catered to one specific crowd. But even given that, I don't think it's the biggest problem.
THAT, I think, is over all decline in either net usage of interest in forums.
EVERY site I'm a member of has had a drastic decline in member usage and even new membership.

As for the caliber of the site, I think this place is one of the better ones.
The way it's handled, the shit done for members, the type of crowd etc all = win.
The site ain't doing too shabby on value either.

My "statement" is a fact and my fact is "absurd" which is the point.

As I recall, you yourself haven't done too bad on other sites I've seen you on whose only claim to fame is being the Banned Boy.

Your point was to be absurd?
You succeeded.
As for the banned part... I never claimed to be an angel.
Of course, the two sites I was banned from ..well... I remember you being banned from as well.
The banned whipping boy.
Hahaha, kinda has a ring to it.

Dear Knucklefuck,

I succeeded in showing the absurdy of having a Red zone that can be and has been manipulated into a Green zone.

P.S.
You're a Kunt

Regards,
The guy who lives very close to China, a country you know shit dick lick nothing about but you continue to brag on about, running in circles like an empty headed dog chasing it's tail, getting nowhere but closer to ones own black hole.

P.S.S.
It won't take much imagination to know that you'll get the last word in like you've girlishly done in every forum I've witnessed you doing it, Kunt.

Oh my god. Waaah.

Stop it, already.

Kommie, the fucking red and green zones and the proper categorizing of threads within them would matter a whole lot more if there was heavy enough traffic that "new posts" would be difficult to keep up with..

But its not. If u r so irritated with red, green, and free.. then find a better way to draw members to this site (as it is NOW).
