You may have noticed a shiny Facebook Icon @ the very top of the forum.

This is Facebook Connect, and allows you to link your account here to your account @ Facebook.

Don't know what it is ? Look here for FaceBook's official WORDS (http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=730).

Do you have concerns about privacy or some other issue?

Well don't use it then .. it really is that easy.

***************

Facebook connect will allow ME to write some aps using the FB API and developer codes ...and CONNECT it to the forum.

YOU do not have to use ANY of them .. YOU do not have to do anything therefore I will entertain NO complaints about this.

Thanks...byeeee.

Note:

If you decide to use this be VERY sure you have set your privacy settings ON FACEBOOK to the density that you require.

The Application on the forum side is my responsibility and I will ensure it is as safe to use as Facebook its self.

But YOUR data is YOUR responsibility and who you allow to access it is up to you. If you fuck up and allow data to post to your wall that you would not otherwise share with YOUR family then that is YOUR goddamn fault .. not mine.

The interwebs are a fucking Jungle ... act accordingly.

Well the forum software developer only added the Connect framework to the forum software. ( built in is MUCH better than add-on)

The thing I made with the FB API toolkit is actually more functional than the CONNECT feature .. currently.

As time goes on the forum folks will add functionality .. or I'll write my own as FB has a fairly extensive developer toolkit.

To properly use FB connect I needed to make a Forum Fan page on face book.

This allows my FB Connect and My SC Application to send data amongst the forum, my FB account, and the fans of the SC fan page's accounts...

Whew ... ^^^ did that even make sense?

Anyway ..

PLEASE .. if you have a FB account add the Swollen Cranium page. The SC FB Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/edit/?id=117472831599903#%21/pages/The-Swollen-Cranium/117472831599903).

Yep,

I'm also running Google Analytics to monitor each and every visit to the forum and it's already showing some cross traffic from Facebook.

I'm hoping once the Fan page gets a bit more use it will translate to a few more members .. after all FB has a source of over 9 million users and we are bound to be seen by at least 0.5 % of that just from app search alone.

Yep,

I'm also running Google Analytics ......bla bla bla.

So yeah, according to Goog's anal page The FB connect and the SC Fan page are responsible for 4.67% of the forum traffic in the last 36 hours.

So yeah, I'm gonna call this a short term success and dive right into the FB developer tool kit and see what voodoo I can do.

I don't think that by posting fag quotes every other day from office emails that sound "deep" are interesting in the slightest....so, consequently I don't get along with the Facebook crowd very well.

The idea is cool as hell though.

I do the Social Media thing only for the access to the millions of users.

While I've yet to generate a MEMBER from this venture I have generated a 4.6% rise in unique page views over the previous month.

I got this from this Web Site:
http://gizmodo.com/5523178/facebooks-privacy-changes-get-scary

I found it after Gary's Motorola thread and it seems spiffy enough for recent Tech news.

Facebook's Privacy Changes Get Scary

Facebook's long had some privacy issues, and now that they're broadening their reach on the web, who knows what'll happen next? Oh, right. We do:

2007 - Facebook Beacon links your purchases at online stores to your Facebook account so your friends (and marketers) can see what you're buying.

2010 - Facebook makes it impossible for you to hide certain information, such as your interests and location, from everybody.

2011 - Facebook History Tracker makes your web surfing history publicly viewable on your feed (and to marketers). After a brief uproar, Facebook enables an "incognito mode" for when you want to look at porn, but it's buried deep within the settings and automatically shuts off after each session.

2012 - Facebook Life Recorder is a small camera apparatus that's worn on your head, automatically tagging the friends you interact with via facial recognition and posting to your wall. Information such as where you shop and what you buy is put into a database (for marketers).

2014 - Facebook Implant combines a chemical scanner with a GPS chip. Everything you eat and everywhere you go are automatically posted to your News Feed in minute detail. This setting can be deactivated through outpatient surgery.

2015 - Facebook Guy Who Moves Into Your House With You and Is Always On the Phone With Potential Advertisers Telling Them What You're Doing meets initial resistance, but once the site starts publicizing its "Watcher Marriages"—instances where a follower and followee have fallen in love—public opposition melts away.

2016 - Mark Zuckerberg is elected president in the first election that allows voting via Liking candidates on Facebook.

2017 - Facebook User Relocation to Facebook's Headquarters ensures Facebook's ability to track every single thing you do to post to your Feed. Considered necessary after "Watcher Marriages" resulted in too many compromised Facebook Guys Who Move Into Your House With You.

2018 - Facebook Pods provide remote 24 hour contact with Facebook, as well as all bodily needs, including food delivery and waste removal (which is then provided to marketers for analysis).

2020 - Facebook Genital Pictures takes pictures of everyone's junk, which was real easy what with everyone in those Pods. Finally, Facebook fulfills its ultimate destiny: showing you (and marketers) everyone you've ever met with no clothes on.
