It was bound to happen eventually... http://swollencranium.com/forums/images/icons/wink.png

We have grown to a size that is no longer compatible with the minuscule Hosting plan I have been using for the last 24 months.

I will do some shopping around for a fair market price for upgraded services that will fix this issue.

Most likely this will make my monthly maintenance fees quadruple.

Please be patient .. and I'll update this thread when I have info to add.

I haven't really had any problems, site seems fine to me.

...But you know more about it than me.

ok ..

Host tech support says they are working to clean up some of the other folks on this shared server, seems as if a few are being resource hogs.

Chat box will stay down until some of the lag is cleared up.

EDIT : 0730, chat box back online.

Well I've decided to pull the trigger and move up to a more robust hosting plan where I have full shell access. ( if ya don't know what that means then most likely the explainaing will be just as meaningless. )

I'm gonna go with a VPS instead of going to a full dedicated server. This is a natural progression from a shared plan anyway.

VPS = 6x more $ per month.

I have some ideas that I want to do but am limited by not having shell access, therefore the added cost is worth it to me.

Also .. Since Google are a bunch of hypocrite motherfuckers I can no longer use Google ads as an income base. I have gone back to an alternate form of ad and will HEAVILY place advertisement on the forum. 99% of all advertisement will be hidden from a logged in member so YOU, the membership, will have little to no interruption in service. ( I'm running ads on almost all pages now .. did ya know? )

If you are a Facebook user you are aware of the huge amount of ads they throw at you with every visit. I hate that, I will not do that to a registered member. Ever. My goal will be to only present 1% or LESS of the advertisement to a registered user.

Bottom line:

VPS = good. Faster, less lags, shell access means I can do some really cool shit with the stuff I offer !

Yaaaaaa me !!

I have no earthly idea what the shell you're talking about. But if it brings a (toothless) smile to your swollen lil face, it must be well worth the cost.

Sweet....This is one of 2 sites I allowed my AdBlock Plus to remain off for and I haven't seen an ad yet....good work.

Facebook is NOT the other site, by the way. I can seriously do without "geek matchmaker dot com" or what the hell ever keeps wanting to show up, even though I keep hearing rumbles about it becoming a pay site in the near future.

I'm SERIOUSLY looking forward to seeing what kinds of dodads and whatsits you can come up with for here, though.

Also...and I know this is fairly off topic....but I want an SC t-shirt, dammit!
