Forgive the voice; I was pretty nervous. I haven't done anything like that before, and it gets way too quiet in the middle.

There are mistakes too, of course, and it's just the beginning, but:

YouTube - Imagine (cover, just the beginning, beginner) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uz-So8-O_k)

DO YOUR WORST.

Oh dude that was awesome!
You messed up on a few parts but you'll get better!

Good job kiddo!

That was not bad.... All you need is a little bit more practice.

Next stop "American Idol".

Do it again and sing louder, please! The more air you get goin', the easier it is to go with the flow.

Encore! Encore! Hehehe. Good job :)

Shit, after reading your writing at the start I was expecting a God awful mess, but that was pretty damn god! How long have you been playing?

I wanna learn the piano so I was going to buy a key board and work my way up. In your personal opinion, would this be a good way to start or would you recommend lessons?

SInce I bought a keyboard once with the same idea, I feel as though I'm an expert on how NOT to do it.

My expert advice: Get lessons.

Did you just give up or did it not (for lack of a better expression) teach you in the way you had hoped?

Both. But the latter half, before the first half.

Shit. Well there goes that plan out the window.

I think that post was meant for me, not Dunamis

Thanks :).

I'll sing louder next time. I also agree with Polar Bear: Get lessons. There's a lot that a good pianist can teach you that you'll never find in instruction books.

would you recommend lessons?

I recommend you find a grand piano and close the cover on your head.

That actually wasn't bad at all, Dunamis. Piano is a lot harder than most people think. Your left and right hands are operating at differing intervals (especially in a song like that). Add in the vocalizing at the same time and it's definitely no easy feat. Good job.

It's seems as you should relax more in regards to the piano playing as well, since it sounded a bit static. It's a pretty fragile song so try to be more gentle. Still, much better than anything I could do, so I hope to hear more from your process of getting better =)

I really regret quitting the piano lessons when I was 10, what a silly boy I was.

Thanks, Scabby. I know that I need to relax a bit, and all this feedback is certainly helping.

Now, to put me completely to shame, here's my friend Nathan:

dunamis,

you actually have quite a passable voice...and only seemed to falter when you missed up a little on the accompaniment.

ps. good work on the high note, hotshot.

as for your buddy nathan...

the piano sound was massively tinny (cause the camera was on it), but his voice is really nice.

I really see no difference between the two of you other than confidence and experience.

will you sign my boobies?

Haha. I am always happy to sign any breasts thrust in my direction.

I got a much, much better recording, this time of the whole song. I'll upload it sometime tomorrow night.

Mate, you need to stick with the lessons. Get back to us in a couple of months....

I think you are crap.

j/k

Lol.... Dunamis, I really admire you for posting that after just a few lessons. You are such a lovely guy, I could never say anything bad (unless it was in IM, but I don't even log into MSN anymore). Keep at the lessons, you will go far Luke. Oh, and did I mention, I am your father?

Alright, this is the last time I'm bumping this thread, haha. I think that this (http://zorachus.net/files/imaginecover.mp3) turned out quite a bit better. It's a little choppy at some points (and there's a chair creaking, haha), but it's the whole song this time, and I think it turned out pretty well.

I feel i owe you an honest opinion, from someone who has been rocking for fucking ever, it seems. You suck. Any A&R person will tell you that faster than I just did. I am not trying to be disrespectful or anything, I'm just trying to tell you how cutthroat the music buisiness is.

He never said he was trying to break into the business, asswipe. Don't be so fucking dense your entire life.

As if nobody knows who you are. Why even bother trying to conceal your identity?

In before 32 pages of arguments: Constructive criticism is good. I don't have a problem with that post, and thanks for being honest about your opinion :)

There's no way to improve if everyone tells me that I sound great. I think that it'll sound better when I'm better able to coordinate singing, playing, and tempo, but we'll see. There are certainly worse singers on youtube.

That's very impressive, it still shows that you love piano. Though you need to learn more about it but that's okey, i took piano lessons for almost 10 years. And i think you should take it. It will help you a lot!
